Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

I think you like to way over-complicate things. :) Just put all your freaking plugins in one place. What's the point of doing otherwise?

Re: Your review of inexpensive plugins

Well that sound pack is my only experience with them so far, so I'm obviously not about to spend any real money on their stuff. :) But try to keep an open mind.

Re: Does Windows 10 Update Sometimes FUBAR Your System

Because it's utter crap. :) Got it with my brand-new (last year) laptop. It's not just all the problems with it and the "updates" themselves either. It's the ridiculous invasiveness of it, how updates are forced on you (I'll have to check that "metering" thing)...I could go on bu...

Re: Needing a new interface

Disagree all you like, no sweat off my back. You're opinion is definitely in the minority, by a lot. Try a Google search for 'Audient id14 review'. Nothing but raves, especially about the price, Do a search for reviews on just about any AI and you'll see similar. They mean nothing. Brown-burr DAC a...

Re: Does Windows 10 Update Sometimes FUBAR Your System

That's like saying "does splashing water on your face get it wet" Windows 10 IS a FUBAR. I hate it so much I actually wrote a song about it. My next new laptop will have Win 7 on it and I'll never look back. As for vulernabilities, again, it's Windows; by definition you're vulnerable. That...

Re: Needing a new interface

I respectfully disagree. Audients may be good but are IMO severely overpriced. I've heard them next to units costing about half as much and noticed no diff. And what's their problem with MIDI? Near as I can tell NONE of their units have it. In this day and age, that's absurd.

Appreciated but certainly not necessary.

I refuse to comment on the old PCs tangent. Too depressing. :)

Re: Needing a new interface

This makes sense hardware wise but with the proviso that we vet the software (drivers) also. True, good point; I think that's largely the diff maker in good vs better (other than added features, obviously). My thought is that opinions of pros probably vary based on personal bias/experience, unless ...

Re: Free Izotope Vocal Doubler

I tried it. I thought it was stupid to have to get an "authorization code" for free software, but it would have been worth it if it was any good. IMO it is not. I tried it (granted with a simple sample of my unimpressive voice! But still), and noticed no difference at all on ANY setting. I...

Re: Sonivox Orchestral Companions (and others) on Sale

I use Waves for the guitar rig stuff; I like it a lot but it was a HUGE pain getting it setup - and from what you say I do wonder if I'll be in trouble with it if / when I get a new computer. I agree that DRM encourages piracy and I would suspect costs companies money in the long run. I doubt it en...

Re: Using both 32 bit and 64 bit Mixcraft - potential pitfalls?

Not saying it doesn't matter, but your overall CPU, RAM and cache matter much more, and clock speeds matter much less than they used to. You'd have to have a huge diff in clock speeds and all other things being about equal to notice a diff, and that's unlikely. Also it depends on the app(s) you're r...

Re: Mixcraft Suggestions!

a big omission in the midi fx category that there is no Arpeggiator. This would appear to be essential midi tool that I would like to see included in future upgrades. While I agree it would be a nice-to-have built in, there are numerous plugins, including free ones, which have arpeggiators, so pers...

Re: Using both 32 bit and 64 bit Mixcraft - potential pitfalls?

To mixguy2: You say you have a Celeron with 4GB RAM and run 64bit just fine. Would you mind telling me specifically which Celeron processor you have? I want to compare that with my chip to see if mine is on par. I assume that older Pentiums can be slower than newer Celerons. Also, I suspect (logica...

Re: Needing a new interface

Yeah tech is so good now I doubt you could buy a bad (new) AI if you tried, and the diff's between them keeps shrinking. A lot of "pros" hate to hear that though, and insist it's not true. Not sure why...maybe because having the pricier stuff has at least given the appearance of being bett...
