Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

By FAR the biggest feature and value of Mixcraft is this forum and the wonderful people on it!

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

32-bit Mixcraft may work more smoothly for you if you have lots of 32-bit plugins in your project. 64-bit Mixcraft may work more smoothly if you have heavy-duty plugins that need lots of RAM.

Let me add - no matter which one you choose, you'll be VERY happy with the main choice you made - Mixcraft!

Re: Drum Pad - Advise on which sounds to map

My daughter wanted to get one for me. No good place to put it though and the cheaper ones have an annoying latency issue

Or did when last I tried one several years ago

Re: Drum Pad - Advise on which sounds to map

I made some progress on this. And I see (I guess) why I can't find recommendations Fiirst there is the search issue. Any reasonable search brings up "how to assign pads" rather than "what to assign them to for effective finger drumming" Second, it is a matter of taste Thirdt, Eig...

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

Correct about the vst3 folders. I guess four folders?

I know I forgot about vst3 and need to go back to inventory them as well. Not sure if it's worth having them in separate folders.

Re: Drum Pad - Advise on which sounds to map

Mixguy - I have the akai mpk mini mkii Two octaves only (swichable of course) Small joystick for pitch bends Pads and controller knobs Works great for me since I don't play naturally. It's more that I enter notes and fix it later in the piano roll (Several people have asked for the option of enterin...

Drum Pad - Advise on which sounds to map

OK - tough to say what I want in a brief subject. And seemingly impossible to Google. I have an Akai mini keyboard with 8 pads. I know how to map drum sounds to them. I also know how to switch to a different set of sounds. I'm a decent drummer by tapping - so I'd really like to use the pads instead ...

Re: Your review of inexpensive plugins

Waves Bass Rider (currently $29) has been a real winner for me. I no longer have to worry about my playing (as much) because this plug in helps in both directions - if I get a bit too "Enthusiastic" and pluck a string too hard - it softens it. But if I'm playing a quick part and wind up on...

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

Looks like it may be time for Greg to chime in again - because I'm confused a bit. My understanding, which runs contrary to some of the things posted here recently: 1. If you have both a 32bit and a 64bit plugin for a given effect or instrument, 64bit Mixcraft will use the 64bit version and ignore t...

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

Hi Greg - I certainly understand why there are 32bit plugins as part of the 64bit version. But as you said, it will use the 64bit version if available. It appears in many of the 3rd party plugins that come with Mixcraft, there is no 64bit version. Some of the Mixcraft ones as well. And while I'm on ...

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

Hmmm - rereading this I see I forgot about VST3 plugins. Maybe I'm not done yet. Yes - this is a lot of work for "nothing". But worth it for me because I unnecessarily created a mess by creating VST folders of my own (avoiding them being in the Program folders because I don't think of them...

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

DONE! Well worth it I think. I inventoried every VST and VSTi that Mixcraft found in the many folders I had it point to. Noted which ones had 64bit alternatives vs those that didn't. (A surprising number of those that came with Mixcraft are 32bit only) Obviously kept all the Mixcraft ones. For the o...

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

More info - It turns out I had the 64bit versions of my purchased plugins except EZDrummer - and that was easy to get from them. So... On to the third party freebies. I intend to put them in the recommended folders - separating 32bit and 64bit. Not at my Mixcraft computer - but the only thing that m...

Re: Mixcraft Project Folder Question

So to summarize - I think - the question is

No matter what folder we choose to use to save our projects -
why does Mixcraft sometimes put it in the root of that folder, and other times automatically create a subfolder.

RElated question - what triggers an automatic backup?
