The Outfield

1985, the band name is probably not familiar to many of you but the song definitely is, I Don't Want To Lose (Your Love) Tonight, The Outfield. My take (don't expect the octave soprano singing of the original, no way can I get that high)!   https://soundcloud.com/outteh/your-love

Re: midi file load

Are you loading as a new project or a sound file? Load as a new project, this should pick up the midi info to determine instruments. :D

Re: Making samples

You do know what I mean by highlighting the clip area you want to mix down? This should only allow the highlighted area to be mixed down. PG 212 in the manual. Use the “use selection” feature. :D

Re: Making samples

Probably an effects tail, such as reverb or sustain. Try highlighting only the beats you want to mix down and see if it sounds ok! :D

Re: Distortion Portion

Check your master track and make sure no effects are present. Try a different piano (bright piano, honky tonk piano) and see if there is a difference. Set your audio to 16 bit, 44100 and see if that helps. Also note that you said it happens using the midi cable. Try a new cable and try doing a “midi...

Re: Distortion Portion

Downloaded your MX8 file - don't hear any issues. I reduced the velocity by 30% and it sounds better but I'm not hearing any swirling or other noise. It would appear it has something to do with your soundcard or setup? :D

Re: Distortion Portion

It doesn’t sound like distortion due to cables or keyboard. It sounds like the velocity is very high causing volume distortion? Check your settings. :D

A Must Have

With all the static and distortion issues surfacing, here’s a must have item for all! This cable tester is inexpensive and tests multiple types of cables. Behringer CT100. :D

Re: collaborating

Create a folder on your PC. In Mixcraft, use the save your project to a folder option and save it to the folder you created. You can then zip the folder and it’s contents or put it on a file sharing site and your friend should be able to unzip the folder and load the project to his Mixcaft. Alternat...

Re: What are your top 3 feature requests for Mixcraft 9?

Can you add an option to link the output track volumes to the Master fader? If this option already exists I just haven't found it yet. I'm running a 10ch monitor setup at the moment and need this feature. Lance Have you read up on setting up output buss tracks. This might be what you are looking fo...

Re: program changes or other controler data.

Save the project, not just the tracks. After you have saved the project you can output the tracks. If you are familiar with midi commands, in the sound tab, in the piano roll you can put in a program change parameter which tells midi what instrument to use when the track is loaded back. You’ll have ...

Posted an update on my previous post. Although it talks about the 2x2 inteface, I think it applies to your 4x4 also. :D
