Re: Why no 88.2kHz and 176.4kHz Sample Rates available for Mix Down

Nice post! Bit depth, at least so far as I've been able to ascertain, can and does make a difference. Not really. Bit depth is simply the level of the noise floor. At 16 bits the noise floor is inaudible, so anything higher is literally superfluous. Each bit has 6db of dynamic range; since most rock...

So instead of simply not posting you used some of your precious time to perform a hand-waving exercise. Don't worry, I'm sure everybody on this forum is aware of your presence.

Re: Why no 88.2kHz and 176.4kHz Sample Rates available for Mix Down

...88.2kHz-96kHz "is not that far from the optimum (of 50kHz-60kHz)". It would seem, based on the information, that 176.4kHz and 192kHz are problematic (from what I gather for the same reasons as you, and aj113, pointed out in the first place I guess)... Higher sample rates are a potentia...

... For technical discussions such as this, "because I said so" doesn't really cut it. Well here's but one article that I've based my "technical" theory on: https://theproaudiofiles.com/6-facts-of-sample-rate-and-bit-depth/ ... 1. Who is Dave Askew? 2. What is proaudiofiles.com?...

Re: Why no 88.2kHz and 176.4kHz Sample Rates available for Mix Down

It's not strictly true (albeit generally accepted) that nobody can hear frequencies above 20kHz. It has been found that some (woman in particular for some obscure reason) are indeed able to HEAR frequencies of up to 22kHz. And not "blowing my own trumpet" but I'm pretty sure I myself am a...

There are indeed many opinions, that's why it's always best to stick with proven scientific fact, rather than going with the latest trends.

Re: Why no 88.2kHz and 176.4kHz Sample Rates available for Mix Down

...From my experience with video and photography, I have learned that the higher the quality of the master, the better the quality of the compressed file that comes from it. Wanting to create a master at 88 or 176 for release as a CD seems like a reasonable idea to me... I suggest you do some resea...

Re: Adjust Playrate

How do I adjust the playback rate of a whole project? You don't. It's a simple, basic feature that MC should have had years ago but for some reason the devs will not add it. If it's to record a part: with 50 tracks, the best option is to export the project and then import the mix into a new project...

Re: Easiest and most efficient way to add echon last word of each line?

Edited: There is another way to do this, use the scissors to split the track at the desired point/s start and end times and drag the selection to another track. Hold "shift when dragging and it will keep position in time. This is the method I use. You can also click once on the split clip and ...

Re: Yet another mix down to mp3 question

...What I hear is an overly compressed, or better said, a limited sound, where for example the song sounds as if it is "coming and going" or a "push pull" sound? To me this is akin to a compressor cranked way up and limiting louder passages, as if a kick drum or vocal line wants...

Re: Delete dead space at the end of a track?

To clarify for the OP:

He has deleted the end part of a clip, but the playback indicator still plays to point where the end of the clip used to be.

I've had this happen before on occasion, in my opinion it's a bug.

Re: Variable EQ sections?

In my opinion it is easier and more effective to duplicate the track and chop up the clips if you want to automate. The problem with automation is that you can't easily SEE when each change in automation kicks in. Also, it's so easy to accidentally leave the wrong parameter in the automation lane, t...
