It's a discontinued product, the PreSonus Firepod. Mitchell Sigman uses them in his studio.
This is the same computer and configuration that ran/runs Mixcraft 7 quite well.
I know that as I learn more about recording and processing, I am trying and using more 3rd-party plug-ins, the coding and behavior of which is out of Acoustica's control, of course.
However, if some of what I am seeing is down to a bad plug-in, I am concerned that Mixcraft 8 seems to handle plug-in errors less gracefully than previous versions.
I've been using Mixcraft 7 Pro Studio since it first came out and it has been solid, I can't even remember it crashing. It's software, it must have, but I can't remember it.
The release candidate Mixcraft 8 builds are still crashing from time to time. I can't nail down reproducible steps, but it seems to happen most often after long sessions of tracking and mixing.
