Help! any suggestions for a new computer uk

Postby JohnS » Sat Dec 09, 2017 12:55 pm

Hi
My I7 which was six years old has bit the dust.

Is there a fast computer 16 gig ram that you can buy off the shelf in Pc world or other music stores that can do a great job, or is it best to go to one of the build to spec places here in uk.

Any good suggestions appreciated as I am lost for ideas as there are so many for's and against's with different manufactures..

all the best
John :P

IMO it's always best to either have it built to spec or build it yourself. Off the shelf you are going to be making (probably unknowingly) compromises somewhere. It's not really all that hard to do and if you're not up for it any shop tech will be grateful to be doing something other than cleaning viruses and spyware. Going price in my area right now is Can $150 for assembly and installing Windows.

Hi Chill bear, Thanks for the reply.>

I am In the uk and after a tip, I have found a good company called PC SPecialist and they build pro Audio systems.Recommended to me.There background is also solid.
I have looked at all the components that go to build this machine and all are good quality.
It will cost me £1070 for the build but looks a quality machine with alloy casing and not plastic like the off the shelf ones.
My motto is with everything is ,you get what you pay for.

Just hope It will be another six years trouble free computing, but I doubt it when windows 15 will be out.
It would be great If Mixcraft took over Cakewalk!!

All the best
john :D
