MIxcraft 8 not Saving true sound

Postby Cynkronyze » Sun Apr 07, 2019 8:22 am

Hi all,

Am new here, and would want all the help i can get.

I just finished mixing a song in Mixcraft 8 and i happy with the over all mix, but still a long way to go. But when i saved it as mp3 and WAV, and played it on VLC media player / Groove music player, it sounds completely different, the highs / mids seem out of place. How do i get a true sounding master copy as i had mixed in the software.

Please help.

Hello and welcome to the Mixcraft forum.

Right click on the little speaker icon in the task bar on your PC and turn off sound enhancements.

Hi jIlouvar,

Thanks for the welcome !

I found that by clicking on the speaker icon on the task bar, the spatial sound was already turned off. No other setting on the drop down other than dolby for headphones / dts for headphones.

Still not sure why the sound from the software sounds different from when it is being played in one of the media players.....

Mixcraft 7 didnt have this problem.

thanks in advance.

Hmm, I’m not sure... hopefully someone with more knowledge than I will help you. Are you using Windows 10 and Mixcraft 8.1 build 418? Also you listening through the same audio interface?

Hi And Welcome.

Sound enhancements are found under playback device properties, ie speakers, headphones etc

Usually found by right-clicking on the speakers' icon in the task tray, select playback devices. When the sound window opens click on the default playback device, (has a tick next to it), Click properties at the bottom right, then click the enhancements tab. Take the tick out of all the boxes.

Depending on OS it may be a different route to open the sound properties.

Hope this helps.

Did turning off the sound enhancements solve the problem?

Hi,

If the mixed-down sound sounds normal when you load it back into Mixcraft, then it's probably the Windows audio enhancements thing, or some other playback issue.

If the mixed-down sound sounds wrong when you load it into Mixcraft and play it, then try this;

Mix down to a wav file that has the same sample rate as the one you're using in Sound Device preferences. For example, if you're using a sample rate of 48000 Hz in Mixcraft's sound device preferences, mix down to a wav file with a sample rate of 48000 Hz. To change the sample rate of your mixed down files, click Edit Details / Specifiy Settings when you go to mix down.

Why is this happening? Because some plugins don't work properly if the sample rate changes upon mix down.
