I recently purchased Mixcraft 6 Home Studio, and wanted to play around with some files recorded on a friend's computer using a different version of Mixcraft. It does not seem to be possible to import them (the file extensions are .mx6 while mine creates files with the extension .mx6hs). I can't imagine that it is impossible to share files between versions, but so far I have not figured out how, and so I would appreciate some help if anyone is willing and able to offer it!

Thank you in advance.

I did try that, but unfortunately it still wouldn't open the files. :-(

Hi,

Mixcraft 6 Home Studio can't open Mixcraft 6 projects because Mixcraft 6 has a bunch of extra features that are not backward compatible, like submix tracks, for example.

You can load the audio files from the Mixcraft 6 project into Home Studio, or if you're working with virtual instrument tracks, your friend could save the project as a .mid file and send it to you.

And of course, you could also upgrade to Mixcraft 6 by clicking on the Upgrade option at the top of Mixcraft 6 Home Studio's screen. That costs $40.
