manipulating and recording a sample in real time

Postby donjuno » Fri Feb 08, 2013 4:02 am

As a novice with Mixcraft I was wondering if it is possible to use my midi controller keyboard in the following way. I would like to import a sample into mixcraft...say a string melody...and then chop it up/transpose it/harmonise it in real time and record the resulting sound. A bit like Ferris Bueller when he's ringing in sick for anyone who's seen the film lol. I'm sure this is fairly basic but so am I with Mixcraft as I mostly use it for recording and mixing real instruments.

Hope someone can help

Cheers :D

Mixcraft doesn't currently include a series of features that would make that kind of thing automatic. You can certainly split some audio into pieces and then load those pieces into a sampling plugin (like shortcircuit), but it would be fairly labor-intensive.

Check out these Mixcraft video tutorials and tips to get some ideas of what you can do.
