ASIO/WaveRT Option

Postby rowdy777 » Sun Apr 28, 2013 1:20 pm

Heyall,

I am using a Roland/Cakewalk ASIO USB audio interface UA-1G. When I go preferences to change my sound device setting to ASIO the input and output boxes are sometimes blank and the ASIO box always says UA-1G. I do this when i'm using my midi controller because there is such a low latency.
I can use WaveRT but have to lower the latency when using the midi controller. How do I get the ASIO option to stay on? Thanks!

Hi,

The boxes will be blank like that if Mixcraft can't detect your audio interface. Make sure it's connected before you start Mixcraft and make sure that you don't have another ASIO program running.

Hey Greg,

Thanks for quick reply. When I start up Mixcraft Pro Studio 6 the first time for the day the ASIO works but somewhere I loose it and cant get it back until I shutdown and reboot. The drivers are updated.
Device manager says device is working properly. I can exit mixcraft then when I reopen it the boxes are blank and ASIO is not working and get the "Unable to open playback device" screen.

Thanks!

Hi,

For lower latency in WaveRT mode, you can choose the "Exclusive Mode" option.

For ASIO, when do you lose ASIO drivers? When you switch sound device preferences? When you quit Mixcraft? The advice there might be "don't do that."

Hello,

I just tried unplugging the usb and then plug it back in and it came back. And yes it will stay on ASIO if I don't touch anything. I guess it has to find the driver? One more related question - Does the ASIO or WaveRT affect the playback quality of a project once it has been recorded and / or mixed.

Thanks Yall!

Hi,

If you're using the same sample rate and bit depth, there would be no quality difference. The major concern is whether you're getting low latency (if that's an issue for you) and whether you're getting any skipping in your recording. If you're not getting any skipping and the latency is good, then you're all set. The quality will be fine.
