They do it once a year. If you want Kontakt now is the time to buy for the best deal.

I know. I got clobbered last year. She wanted me to send it back when UPS added almost 25% for brokerage fees on a duty free item. It comes with a ton of libraries for you to use plus there are a gazillion free libraries out there for Kontakt. Davefk has posted links to some nice ones in Plugins! just recently.

You only blame me to get off the hook with the missus. 8)

Imagine my pain at wanting to do the stuff I see done with Kontakt but after many attempts throwing in the towel. The program is just too complex for this old guy. I would describe it as setting the standard for un-intuitive.

Hey Clyde...

While I am waiting for Kontakt 5 to come in the mail, I have been doing a little research and I have a question for you.

Mixcraft is my preferred DAW but I also have and use Studio One Professional. Studio One is a 64 bit DAW. Will Kontakt work in both 32 bit Mixcraf and 64 bit Studio One?

Thanks...

PS.. I blamed Mark for this

WTG Mark!

They give you both 32 and 64 bit VSTs so you're good. I bridge the 64 bit Kontakt into Mixcraft. Works fine except as noted in the jBridge thread in the Plugins! forum.

Yeah! Everyone BUY KONTAKT! Its on sale!

I figure one of two results here. Either someone will figure out how it works and how to explain it, and drag this old neanderthal into the fold, or many of you will all be in the same situation as me, regretting I ever saw the friggin' program. (And the purchased tutorials to try and make use of it, which amount to more demos of how great the librarys sound and how deep the features are and........)
I cant seem to make it do any of that stuff! Alternate samples, multi channel/multitimbral........ sounds nice.

My typical experience= open Kontakt. Load library. Make some sounds with my keyboard. Cool. Drums. Orchestral suites. Waterpipes.
Close Kontakt. Make some music with something that hurts less.

That sounds like the day I tried Reaper

I would be the first to admit that Kontakt is not the easiest egg to crack.....and the manual reads like my VW Golf manual: it's in there somewhere but try and guess where, probably alphabetized by the original German words. You just have to think like a fundamentalist: "This is the way it is because it is NI's will." BUT there is so much great stuff and so many freebees available for it that it makes the initial pain worthwhile.

I see you found my post in 'Tips' on setting up Kontakt as a multi-channel. Let us know how it works for you.
