In Mixcraft 6 (mine is Pro Studio) instruments, the snare drum is missing from the Heavy Metal Kit, Spacious Studio Drum Kit, Stadium Heavy Metal Kit, and Studio Drum Kit. On the ones that do have them it's at note D2.

Yeah, I dont use those kits myself, but I verified also, all there. Two snare hits, rim shots, cross sticks, etc.

Ian, maybe you could clarify, they are always on the bottom end of the map, with kick drum, etc. Is your keyboard mapped to go down to this set or maybe you are "missing" them because you need to change the range of your setup?

I just checked using the virtual keyboard, but I think maybe thats the answer?

I use the notation feature to apply the drum beats, and if the other kits are anything to go by, the snare appears at E2 (sorry I made the mistake earlier of saying D2, I was tired and about to go to bed).

So now I look in Piano Roll and see that the snare drums listed there. However, they just do not sound correct to me. The snare in Heavy Metal Kit, Spacious Drum Kit and Studio Drum Kit sound too weak, as though they've been tuned too low and with barely any rattle, whereas the Stadium Drum Kit sounds as though it's been tuned too high, and again with barely any rattle. I wonder if there is anyone who is more familiar with drum kits that could confirm this?

I never had this problem when using v5, nor v6 in trial mode.

I kinda like the stadium snare dry as is but you can "tune" it to however you want w/ some compression & eq.
you can also just duplicate the drum track then erase everything but the snare & change kits until you find a snare you like. I'm sure there's also a way to import/add one of the Beatcraft snares if you have it.
there are also plenty of free snare samples on the internet.

That wouldn't be so bad if they even sounded like a snare, but they don't.
