Re: Clueless user fails importing tracks

Why do you delete it? Well, I "thought" it had saved everything to my mixcraft "files safe" folder. After lurking these boards I get what you are saying. If I understand this correctly, the tracks are not saved with the mix... So, I am thinking I should have started the new song...

Clueless user fails importing tracks

Hi all, I darn well know this has been covered about a million times, but I still managed to lose my song somehow, so started over. Would someone show me where am failing here? Steps: Import various .wav tracks from another recorder to a folder on my desktop, lets call the folder "Song 1"....

Two questions - one MX, one melodyne

Hi all, just making sure it's not a user (as in me) error here. First, Updated to MX Pro Studio 8.1 b415 (64 bit); Upgraded Melodyne to 4.2.0.020. Sometimes the Melodyne "blobs" produce sounds in editing, which of course makes it very easy to hear the corrections, sometimes not. And even i...

Re: Melodyne 4.2 Update

Thanks for this post and all the advice here. I too lost four songs after updating. By "lost" I mean MX would freeze and crash on those songs using Melodyne. As with others that posted, it was a Melodyne email for an upgrade. Everything seemed OK, I was even able to continue working in tho...

Re: Melodyne pitch correction on a stereo track?

EDIT 2 - sorry to keep answering my own post, but I want to share my findings. I mixed my two tracks down to a .wav, then imported that new wav file back into a newly saved mix, and viola, Melodyne is on it working as it should. So, future reference. If anybody knows another work around please share...

Melodyne pitch correction on a stereo track?

Hi all, searched around but still mixed up on this. (Pun intended lol) If I record a vocal track with two mics, to separate mono tracks, then merge to one stereo track, will melodyne work as normal for pitch correction or should I apply to the separate tracks and just pan each? I have read where pha...

SOLVED Re: Yet another mix down to mp3 question

As usual, all of your help has solved the issues. Why is it sometimes the most obvious is the most overlooked? As many of you pointed out, my mixdown bitrate may have been to low (it was, at 192). By adjusting up to 320, the problems have gone away. So, a big thanks to everyone for taking the time t...

Re: Yet another mix down to mp3 question

OK guys, your additional questions are quite fair. For me to put a written version of what I hear may be another story...just a 'ol guitar player here...lol What I hear is an overly compressed, or better said, a limited sound, where for example the song sounds as if it is "coming and going"...

Re: Yet another mix down to mp3 question

Thanks Erik, will try out these ideas! They all sound good, I need to get with the times and off the mp3 bandwagon!

SOLVED! Yet another mix down to mp3 question

Hi all, this has been gone over 1000 times I know, but anyway to set the table here I do know that mixing to mp3 is not in our best interest due to compression...and "that compressed sound" When I mix down demos to email out as mp3, on "some" of my playback devices they sound ove...

Re: Helpless user asks: Automation line vs track adjustment line

Man, and here all this time...

This explains alot - it is all in how had I interpreted the term "clip point". Off to reset all my tracks and get that automation line running like it should have been all along!

Thanks guys, greatly appreciate the response!

Helpless user asks: Automation line vs track adjustment line

Hi all, two questions about track volume line adjustment line vs automation line. First, On a given track, adjusting the volume using the adjustable “line” on the track itself where you can set pivot points and move them up or down etc. ------- What is the difference in that method vs using the auto...

Re: Best - EASIEST - drum machine?

Hi all, I too was about at the end of my rope on this. I play many instruments, but sadly drums are not one of them. Even contemplated buying an electronic kit and hire real drummers to come in and record for me. (I may still do this...). The problem is, like many I tend to want it my way so I nitpi...

Re: Stand alone PC, or general PC

I think a lot of my mischief stems from the fact that like many, I was a professional musician for many years and feel like I should still be dedicated to it in that manner and it alone. And let's factor in a little G. A. S. too right.... But yes real life and other interests come along, I'm glad I'...
