Re: Vocal Recording Tricks

What are you guys doing with vocals? :?: I work with the vocalist to sing as in tune, and as in time as they are capable of. In terms of processing, the one technique that always delivers is high-passing to within an inch of its life. I have sworn I will never use auto tune or a harmonizer on a rec...

Disturbed

On this I used drum loops, a Fender J bass, virtual organ and sax, and Yamaha Strat style guitar for the rhythm part. The lead guitar part is the Fender J bass. The vocals are me growling. I've been doing that a lot lately.

Re: Maggot Dance

I gave it a like and I'm following you. It really captures the site of maggots crawling around in the rotting meat of a fast food hamburger under the floor mat of a work truck.

Re: 440 to 432

When I duplicate vocal tracks I change the pitch using "semitones" flat or sharp and I barely notice a change which is what I want. I think in Indian music, on the sitar there are notes between B and C, C# and D etc... The cent is a logarithmic unit of measure used for musical intervals. T...

440 to 432

A guy I am working with suggested that I record in 432 instead of 440. I have used pitch adjustment in semitones to fatten up the vocals but I think that the what Mixcraft is calling semitones are actually cents. My understand is that semitones are the intervals in used in Indian music. How can I go...

Re: Vocal Recording Tricks

Sometimes I duplicate vocal tracks and I will move one slightly forward a few milliseconds and the other back. I also to slight pitch shifts on the tracks with one slightly sharp and the other slightly flat. aka doubling. One way to do it anyway; most would say just record the same thing twice and ...

Re: New Video

I am self taught, I just know what I feel and during the last couple of years I've acquired lots of Vsts/Vstis and spent most of my time learning how to use things appropriately. Unfortunately it sometimes takes years of thought to figure out the endless sweeps of processes to achieve the right soun...

That's often my approach. Sadly, my singing is not what it once was. I need to sing more and get my chops back.

Vocal Recording Tricks

Sometimes I duplicate vocal tracks and I will move one slightly forward a few milliseconds and the other back. I also to slight pitch shifts on the tracks with one slightly sharp and the other slightly flat. The change is subtle but very positive IMO. It fattens the vocals without it sounding like t...

Classic Rocker: Using a Mixcraft Loop

I don't think I could not have played a lead this good and appropriate for the song. Stroke of luck!

Originally the loop was at 85 BPM and in the key of E. Now it's a 120 BPM an in A.

Lanes???

I'm not certain as to how to ask this question other that to ask, what are they for? I noticed them by accident when I recorded on a track that I had already recorded on.

Are they for sub mixes?

Thanks Hound. That's nice to know :)

I get the impression by your music that you are a schooled musician because your compositions are so well put together. Am I right?
