Re: Need help on how mix guitar / vocal track

I'm not a pro audio engineer so take what I'm about to say with as many grains of sale as you wish. When I first started using Mixcraft I would use the preset effects chain and edit each effect or shut them down. I mix for levels in mono. Nothing is panned until I start mastering. Now I duplicate vo...

Re: Is brand of a guitar important?

Building guitars isn't rocket surgery. There are some very good low priced guitars. It's easier to get an electric sound nice and play nice than it is an acoustic. A lot of guys are into "Partscasters". They buy a cheap Fender and customize it. I would never by a new acoustic because wood ...

Re: Minding Acoustica's Business

There are a lot of people still writing jazz, rock, blues, R&B, country, folk and pop but I haven't run across anything that knocks my socks off. I hear a lot of good technical playing but not much feel, creativity, or motive. Not meaning to offend but you've got to get out more, or start check...

Re: Issue with Mixcraft 6

Go to File > Preferences and set it for microphone USB then click OK. See if that works.

When you plug it in Mixcraft will say that it detected a new input device. When that happens, click OK/

I hope this helps.

Presonus has a forum that may offer some help.

Re: Minding Acoustica's Business

We had mixcraftlive.com for a while, but it was more like a myspace thing for musicians. You'd be surprised at what new features could be added in future editions of Mixcraft :-) I would think that a music only site divided loosely into genres with an old style radio feel would fly. If it had an em...

Re: Minding Acoustica's Business

As to the music business. It is dying and revenues are in the toilet. From your link: "Revenue from music sales in the United States has hovered around $7 billion since 2010..." I'd hardly call that dying or in the toilet. It's just shifted largely to streaming. It is sad. I pity kids tod...

Re: Minding Acoustica's Business

It would seems that DAWs are about to reach their zenith. Other than upgrades here and there I don't see what more anyone would want other than loops and effects and maybe some really good defaults for mixing and mastering that can analyze the music and create the "perfect" mix. Is it pos...

PZM / Boundary Microphones: Anyone Using Them?

I used to use a Crown PZM for snare live. I also recorded with it before digital recording. I really liked it. No it's not working. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/18/Pzm1.jpg/1200px-Pzm1.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boundary_microphone https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bound...

Re: Soundcloud?

Soundcloud is missing out on huge revenue. It is really good platform IMO. The engineering is very good. They have a HUGE audience but they are not actualizing even a tiny percentage of the revenue potential. Soundcloud is German owned company. Look how badly the Germans have screwed up their cars. ...

Re: Future of the daw

It will come down to needs, perceived needs and wants and how many bells and whistles DAW users think they want or need. Notice I didn't say composers or musicians. What I would like to see is improved virtual instruments and easier MIDI editing. I'd like to see a way to do changing meter and tempos...

Ear Buds For Mixing?

Since so many people listen with ear buds why not use them for mixing?

What about offering ear bud mixes and mixes for audiophiles?

Re: Mixcraft still the easiest learning curve!

Hi Greg, Here's what I'm talking about... Just for example, if I record a fresh, dry, raw sound clip with no effects, it comes through Logic or Reaper so hot that I can put the sound right inside my head, and can also pan it really hard too. With MC the sound seems to be in front of me no matter wh...

Re: Mixcraft still the easiest learning curve!

Plug-ins are very important as to how they treat those 0s and 1s. How they behave in the chain can make a difference. As I played with DAWs they began to feel more like a musical instrument. Mixcraft just feels right for me. I think that other real musicians would have the same reaction. My recordin...
