Re: Troglodyte-Groove

Particularly like "drawing the map" bassline, and all of them are great stuff, love it! :-)

Re: In A Moment (MsNickybee)

One of the big things I loved about this was the 5 tempo jumps (count 'em!) I initially programmed in for each section, to build tension and engagement and remove the computerised feel, tried to make it work.... Mark particularly brought out my initial use of the recorder, and really held onto those...

Re: *** Plugins Poll ***

Some of this has already been mentioned. I'll stick to freeware thoughts too. (1) EQ The mixer EQ could be more of a useful channel strip? With Q control. And the excellent GLX4070 is consigned to ProStudio, how many folks use this? I do. Similarly, the TB Parametric in ProStudio is perfectly fine, ...

Re: Listening to The Beatles in mono

Well, I have to admit to being biased. So you'll have to humour me on that. I simply don't believe in mp3, never did. Fair enough, but this admitted blind faith in the face of clear evidence to the contrary is a little removed from "...then decided to say that craziness". I mean, it's a b...

Well, I have to admit to being biased. So you'll have to humour me on that. [rant=on] I simply don't believe in mp3, never did. My CD collection has been wav, alac, and now flac for a long time. And this is just because I *can*. Why take the "risk" with mp3 (even 320) that it might be degr...

You spotted earlier that I said I was a "Hifi geek" and then decided to say that craziness eh?...oh you tease! lol ;-)
So nearly fell for it!!!

Re: Listening to The Beatles in mono

I have no doubt that the hi rez 24 bit content has the potential to sound better than CD standard 16 bit. Enough so that it would be obvious to everyone? Probably not True enough. The internet debates on this rage. Me? I can tell the difference. That may be, but it has nothing to do with the bit de...

Re: Listening to The Beatles in mono

People certainly still hyper-focus on this a great deal though don't they? Absolutely! I'm really a music and hifi geek first, and musician second. Don't let me bore you to sleep! I've hyper listened to their music over the years, and know Hard Days Night and Abbey Road inside out.... and because t...

Re: Listening to The Beatles in mono

I think you're right. beauty is in the ear of the beholder. This too. To me, the 24bit remasters *do* sound better. There's always more that can be done though (like George Lucas with Star Wars), but sometimes it's time to stop messing around.... unless you want to keep making money of course (as yo...

Listening to The Beatles in mono

Today, whilst struggling with some troublesome PowerPoint, I'm listening to The Beatles in Mono. On headphones. Why am I subjecting myself to this, I hear you ask? Well, it's interesting for a couple of reasons (1) I'm a geek (2) I need stuff to bore my "work husband" with (he talks about ...

Re: Mastering in Mixcraft.

My 2 cents... I master in Mixcraft (limiting, effects, etc.) then open the output in Audacity. That way I can see what is really going on Why do you think that mastering in eg a separate Mixcraft project doesn't allow you to "see what is going on?". I'm interested. Rock On !!! I'll try, b...
