Re: And She's Gone - Final Mix w/ Video

Thanks Mark for the detailed feedback. And especially thanks for the compliments on the song and video. I like the song! Nice writing, nice work! The video also makes a nice artistic compliment, great use of mostly simple images and clips, well arranged and compiled. More nice work, It and the song ...

Re: Lag/Latency When Listening Back

Should have added some other questions a well... Are you adding FX after recording? It sounds fine when I'm playing along with the tune and recording What is you setup for monitoring? Thru interface? from Main bus out? Are your tracks set at use project tempo? Time stretch? Or is it just a case that...

Re: And She's Gone - Final Mix w/ Video

Thanks again Nicky for your feedback. Not a fan of FAT+ yet. Still like my phree phuzz plugin better for saturation. Tried a few thing to add some analog warmth, but they all seemed to dull the mix or add too much noise. There's no bass? Or low end instruments? Hopefully they came across well enough...

Re: And She's Gone - Final Mix w/ Video

You trying to get a bit more of a glossy top end? (you mention a vitaliser). Yes. Wanted to give it some more pop. Ended up using some master eq. Think it did a decent job, but the vitaliser was dropping vox almost like it was creating a phase cancelation? But would consistently do it. Playing proj...

Re: Midi Sequencer - Save notes you selected as a preset?

Think he's talking about saving a midi sequence like a loop? I believe the answer is -no. You cannot save a midi seq in your loops folder. There are some workarounds. I think you can click and drag a midi file into a track? Wish I was at my DAW to speak more informatively. I'm sure someone else out ...

Video Bump https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j39G4l4nK8Y Took suggestions and made some changes in verb levels, stereo width and gave up on Mid-Side Harmonic Vitaliser+. Kept giving me some weird results. Still improving I think? Video includes some original artwork from a friend.

Re: 64 bit issues

Personally I would always go with whatever option gives me the lowest latency. For me it was 32. 64 was killing me. Not sure what benefits I'm missing not using 64, but the playback and latency were not worth it.

Re: midi instruments pitching down

Not to hijack this tread but... I troubleshot my new mix this weekend. Spend hours trying to figure out why a vox part would drop completely in two section, if playback started at more that 10 bars before. But if I playback 2-3 bars before - perfect. The only conclusion I could come up with was a co...

Re: Calm

Good work Dave. Nice smooth groove. Assuming the sax is loops again? Its weird how the wave form doesn't seem to fit the tune? When I looked at it I thought I had a good idea of the dynamic flow, but it does seem to fit? Do you see what I mean?

Re: midi instruments pitching down

Had this type of thing happen to me when I was using an old synth as my controller. It was dying and throwing random stuff in all the time. Updated my controller since then, but some things I was able to notice that seemed to help. Sometimes it seemed to occur when the track was unfrozen, this may h...

Re: Song production - what are your go-to songs you admire?

Ok I'll bite... Just grabbing any 5 from my playlist of great mixes. This playlist is my goto for mixing inspiration. All great songwriting where the production pushes it to another level. These are some of the songs I will continue to chase for the rest of my life. Mendocino County Line - Willie Ne...
