Started out with a Lexicon Alpha, was not that great but got the job done. Remember having to fiddle with the settings a lot to compensate for latency. Then moved on to a Zoom R16, I still have for a backup. Never had any problem with it except at one point something on my computer was changing the sample rate automatically to 96k. It stopped but never figured out what was doing it.The control surface part was not too great but it would control the basics, fader and transport.
About six months ago moved on to a Behringer XR18 mixer/ interface. Love it, 18x18 USB interface, 16 Midas preamps, 6 Aux outs, midi in and out. You can send anything anywhere. You control it through software by wifi or ethernet. Have not tried wifi yet, I have it hooked up through ethernet to my old Daw computer. So I'm set for a while. https://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-BEH-XR18-LIST
