Hey Guys!

So ive picked up a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (2nd Gen) interface and wanted to start recording at home. I want to record DI guitars for my bands new album and i have a question about the latency.

Im using the Focusrite ASIO driver into Acoustica Mixcraft and with a sample rate of 44100 and a buffer size of 256 the Latency in Milliseconds is 5.80

I am using a Countryman DI to split my signal to go to an amp which i will use ONLY for monitoring.

Im NOT using any amp sim for monitoring or the 'direct monitor' on the Focusrite.

So my question is would i be able to record good quality guitar DI's at this latency?

You should be able to.
I use 6ms setting on my ASIO Focusrite (1st Gen) interface to record guitar. I don't have any problems.

Wow I’m jealous at 23ms latency!

Not only is 5.8 negligible, you won’t notice it anyway on account of direct monitoring through your amp; since you’re not waiting for the sound to get processed by the computer and come back to you.

Welcome to the forum!

Anything below 10ms is great for guitars or anything else, remember each ms is equal to about a foot distance from sound source, so 6ms would be the same delay as someone talking to you from 6ft away, that's not bad at all.
