Hammond...

Postby msnickybee » Mon May 28, 2018 3:03 pm

Quick question folks... What would you say is the most authentic Hammond-esque organ sound we can do with Mixcraft? Or 3rd party? (freeware only)

Needed for one of my (always) 70s sounding tracks

Thanks!

The VB3 in Mixcraft is very close. There is an updated version of it which also has dual drawbar setup. I have a few tunes done with the VB3 on my Soundcloud site. Check out the Green Onions rendition. :D

You have to be careful with the VB3 because otherwise you end up with that good ol' distortion. (unless you like distortion but I don't) I use the Gospel and tweak from there and I believe Tom uses the PInk setting. From there there's no other free Hammond worth using AFAIK. The Acoustic Samples B5 v2 is the best but its £100. The VB3 rotary speaker can be mapped to a keyboard as can the drawbars and all the other stuff to give a realtime experience.
