The WORST feature in Mixcraft is.........

Postby guitbuddy » Fri Jul 13, 2018 12:24 am

The terrible, poorly designed volume control !! { slider }.

1, It's given me Tinnitus from BLASTING my ears every time I start the program.

{ - cause from the mixing volume linking = its always on high. }

2. It's just really poorly designed -- it's hard to slide, and clunky!

3. Please fix it asap.

and preferably give options - like a turning knob control option, too. { have a default to
lowest volume, option, too }

thanks

Would love to see examples of better designed controls!

If you don't complain about this slider - check your hearing now -- YOU PROBABLY HAVE HEARING LOSS.

Studies show most young musicians have sensitive hearing. By late youth/ early Midage unfortunately { probably the age of the designer of this controller} you have significant hearing loss! Marshall amps / any amp anyone?

In fact the noise level in society in general now - approaches deafening in spots.

If you are old age { Old farts anyone? } you're deaf= i = nately approaching deaf, and have hearing loss. { and probably think this control is fine}

Thanks for fixing this with options asap.

Hi,

Did you read the article Mark linked? Read the first paragraph.

Here's something you could try: right-click on the small volume icon in your Windows task bar and select Volume Mixer. Turn the volume down on Mixcraft.

Hello.

For the sake of my own interest is THIS the fader you're talking about:

Because if it is then why not just lower the level, save as a Mixcraft template, and then tell Mixcraft to load that template when starting up every time???

Or you get real fancy and get this (but follow the same procedure as above):

https://www.sonalksis.com/freeg.html

Of course and as has already been pointed out: the above workarounds will cause a problem when mixing down if you forget about it when mixing down.

On the other hand you could get real simple and just turn down the output level knob (monitor or phones) on your sound device???

Here's something you could try: right-click on the small volume icon in your Windows task bar and select Volume Mixer. Turn the volume down on Mixcraft.

Easier still (although in Windows 7 Pro you would turn down the playback volume of your sound device i.e. Mixcraft isn't presented as an option. Correction!!! See below!!!

Regards,

Dale.

Hi,

The Windows Volume Mixer allows you to have different volumes for different apps.

Hi,

Are you all the way in Mixcraft (and not just on the new project screen)?

If so, it may be that this tip is not for those using ASIO mode.

Hello.

Uh HUH!!! Too clever you are!!!

It works if I tell WINDOWS to not use ASIO as the default playback device and select my notebook's internal sound device.

Never too old to learn (obviously).

So there you have it guitbuddy!!! Spoiled for choice insofar as possible solutions are concerned without having to wait for v9!!! LOL!!!

Marshall amps

Yes please!!! And hearing still perfect (I kid you not) after just over a half a century!!! LOL!!!

Regards,

Dale.

Hi,

That's one of the reasons ASIO works so well -- it bypasses extra processing by things like the Windows Volume Mixer.

So, if you're using an ASIO device, you're back to just adjusting the speaker volume.

I have logged a few hours too close to some Marshalls, Ampeg SVT's, running live sound with stacks of Crown amps powerful enough to make your ears bleed..... And I am quite aware of the effect on my hearing. What I apparently wasn't aware of is the effect on my comprehension.
Maybe that last fader in Greg's last post..... If I turn that all the way up will it help me understand what the question, topic, or something is here?
I'm lost. 8)
