If you use something like ezdrummer, superior drummer or other virtual drum instrument which has multi-outputs, then each instrument can be on it's on track.

Im using a free drum plugin called mt powerdrums. It does have the option to set each drum to a different midi channel but i just cant seem to get it to do what i want. Im sure its a simple task and im just missing something??

What do you want it to do? Render a wave file for each track? Did you set up the multi outs in the plugin?

Yes. Render a seperate wav file for each track. I tried again last night but am getting nowhere. Could it be that the free drum vst just doesnt have the ability to do it?

I have no knowledge of MT Powerdrums, so I am not informed on its capabilities or limitations.

But one workaround if it isn't capable of multi outputs is to edit the midi track into multiple tracks, then render the results to audio once satisfied.
Duplicate the midi track as many times as desired, then delete everything but kick in the first one, snare in the second one, hats in the third one, etc until you have the desired tracks. Then render to individual audio tracks.

Perhaps something in this is useful as well?- (old and based on MX7)

Another potential issue, if the separated midi tracks are in a submix, you need to move them out of the submix to get them to produce individual audio files. :D
