Never Perfect

Postby bigaquarium » Sun Jan 13, 2019 4:25 pm

With all of the effort it took to get this mixed down this evening, the title couldn't be any more apt!

I have difficulty with the Bass Drum on this track. It's way too loud & EDM for me. Your stuff is always interesting to me though :)

Yeah, I don’t disagree. I’ve noticed that modern beats like to be a little too clever and dramatic for their own good, 1-3 and 2-4 aren’t good enough for contemporary ears. Still, it’s nice to freshen up a little bit now and then.

This song is pretty much entirely AAS Ultra Analog Session, plus Strum Session for the Nylon Guitar and Drum Pro 32 underneath. Synth gating was done using SideKick6 (comes with MCPS8), using a silent/muted Impulse track as a trigger. During the transition I was using that white noise to excite the flanger a little more but it didn't turn out well on the mixdown due to the difficulty I've been experiencing rendering this particular project.
