Re: SKIPPING WHEN RECORDING

In all likelihood, that's a problem with the PC. Probably a virus, or virus checker.

Re: Seeking help with song...

If timing is your only problem, you could record it as MIDI instead of audio then quantize it to 80 or 90%.

Re: Mixcraft Suggestions!

So if the send track is dark blue, the knob that sends to it is also dark blue. The same problem arises. What color should it be if a track uses more than one send track? If the send track is blue, the knob is blue. If the send track is red, the knob is red. Multiple knobs per track, color coded to...

Re: Mixcraft Suggestions!

A better solution to the "association" is to have the send knobs take on the color of the track they are sending to. So if the send track is dark blue, the knob that sends to it is also dark blue.

Re: Mixcraft Suggestions!

I've always been bothered by the inefficient space usage of the mixer. I've got a lot of screen real estate, and I'd like the option to use it for something more than just longer throw on the faders. For instance, something like this: http://i.imgur.com/IqgCvG4.jpg No, I would probably NEVER use tha...

Re: How to add groove and life into your drum programming?

One thing that makes a world of difference is starting with something that's "better". For me, I use a combination of two things: 1. Addictive Drums as a VST. This sounds amazing. I mean, sure, the Acoustica Studio drums sound good. In fact, they sound really good. But then when you compar...

Re: PCIe To PCI Adapters

If that is your requirement, might I suggest the Tascam US-1800. This product was recently discontinued, but you can still purchase in stock, new equipment. It has 6 balanced line inputs and 4 balanced line outputs. It's USB 2.0, which means just about anything will work with it. I use one and love ...

Re: PCIe To PCI Adapters

Have you considered getting a USB interface instead? I'm sure that the soundcard you have was top notch in it's day, and it may still do everything you require, but a newer USB interface might offer you some features you didn't even know you wanted or needed, and frankly, you can get them for not a ...

Every single guitar track on that link I sent you was done with ReValver and a Les Paul. Plugged the LP directly in to the interface, nothing in front. ReValver is just another VST when it's all said and done.

Re: audio compressor

There is no right answer here. *Everything* can be answered with "it depends". As a general rule, I try not to do *anything* to a signal before it gets to my DAW. Why? Because at that point, I can't change it if I later decide it isn't working. So, let's say I compress a bass guitar before...

Re: Effect Automation Question

Yea, it would be a nice feature, because in this case the effect doesn't have a wet / dry . . . it's just an EQ, but I worked around it by creating two tracks - one with the effect, one without.

Only one would have been required if I could simply turn it on and off.

Effect Automation Question

So I'm trying to use effects automation, and I get it . . . but I don't. What I'm trying to do is simply turn on or off the particular effect at a given point in a song. I don't want to alter any of the individual values in the effect. The equivalent of hitting the check box on the effect list windo...

Re: Dry signal only from Amplitube3 Free into Mixcraft

I tried Amplitube for a while, but didn't care for it. If you're just looking for a really good, free amp sim try Peavey's ReValver 4 . . . I've had very good results. This is a rough mix I'm currently working on, vocals are not yet added, but you're wanting to hear guitar, so this will work nicely:...

Re: How to make second verse and chorus different than the first?

There is only one teacher for this, and her name is Experience. I look at songs I wrote in the past and think, yea, I could have done that better. There is no set answer, from one song to the next, on how to construct it for maximum effect. I mean, it's so subjective. I could say for instance, go li...

Re: Simple question(s)

Sure. But I haven't been able how to make that do what I need it to do. Yes, I can assign the Output Bus track to the headphone amp, easy. I can then point individual tracks to that Output Bus. But when I do that, the tracks I send to the headphone amp are no longer in my monitors. What I would want...
