Re: Amp Modeling?

I've been enjoying Tonelib-GFX ( https://tonelib.net/gfx-overview/ ). Pros: It's free Good range of presents Very editable Cons: I can't persuade it to restore the selected setting(s) on a track(s) when I load a project - MC remembers which setting I used but I have to re-select it track by track. A...

Re: What are your top 3 feature requests for Mixcraft 9?

I may be unusual in what I laughingly call my "process", but one thing I'd find really useful is the ability to add a text note to any track that needs it so that I can record information about exactly what the setup was when a piece of audio was recorded. I have a tendency to come back to...

Re: New computer

i7 CPUs generally deliver higher performance, but there's some overlap: the top-end i5s will be more capable than the low-end i7s. My (desktop) PC has been happily handling all I can throw at it with an i5 CPU that was pretty high-end two years ago. There's a lot of comparative benchmarking info at ...

Re: Question : Does Mixcraft use less or Slightly more RAM to load Compressed Audio Files

I would expect the RAM usage to be the same, once the files had been loaded. Uncompressing the MP3 will probably need more memory while it's taking place, but after that I'd expect RAM to be holding uncompressed audio streams, which should use the same amount of memory irrespective of content. It sh...

Re: "Thunder" pitch shift a sample without tempo change

If I understand the problem correctly, the "Sound" tab should be your friend:

Here's the v7 manual page (it's the same for v8):

https://www.acoustica.com/mixcraft/v7/h ... d-tab.html

Look for Transpose or Pitch Adjustment.

Re: Yet another mix down to mp3 question

It's more like when you "compress" any file by zipping it. Even more like converting a picture to JPEG: the more you compress (for MP3s that's reducing the bit rate) the more information gets lost. At some point you can start to see the effect. My ears seem to be able to detect MP3 compre...

Re: Curious

No issues with Win10 at all here - my current machine came with it preconfigured, which may be a plus, although my old Win7 machine also upgraded without incident. I think in general that computers with relatively recent, widely-available components tend to be OK - it's often older, niche gear that ...

Re: Novation Launchkey 49 question

I have one - just about everything works fine. You'll need to use the "MIDI learn" function to set up things like the pads, knobs and sliders, but it's relatively painless. I haven't figured out how (or if) the multi-coloured pad feature could be persuaded to work, however. I suspect it mi...

Re: Novation Launchkey 49

it's easy.
As a very recent Launchkey 49 purchaser, I can confirm that.

Sadly, I suspect it may not be possible to get the pads to flash in all those pretty colours. Then again, I don't know what I'd use them for... :)

Re: The road to Mixcraft 8

I've edited and created more music in Mixcraft than my other DAW's combined. Oh my word, yes. I started out in the 80s with an Atari ST running Hollis Research Trackman for Midi sequencing, recording on to a Tascam 4-track. Limited, but I learnt how to produce work that I was happy with. Then came ...

Re: artiphon instrument 1

I backed the Instrument1 project on Kickstarter a (very long) while back. It took a lot longer to appear than I (or anyone else) expected, but it turned up this morning. Happy Christmas, me. The good news - Mixcraft 7 recognised the device without issue and I've had a happy half-hour making noises w...

Re: Mixcraft sans Windows

There are websites already denying Win 10 users access... Interesting assertion. Care to give an example? I can imagine a potential issue with the new Edge browser in W10: some poorly-coded sites might fail to recognize it. But otherwise I'm not aware of any problems. But W10 has only reached 75m u...

Re: Inconsistency with UK pricing of Mixcraft Pro Studio 7

My upgrade from MX6Pro to MX7Pro was charged at $54.95, which, by the time PayPal had processed it as a UK purchase, had become £46.58 on New Year's Eve. That's a little over 20% more than the GBP amount reported by Google just now, which fits with the VAT story. Seriously though, less than 50 quid ...
