Re: Feature Request
Or....don't waste time on such makeovers. Just disable plugins you don't want to use, and get third party stuff that you like. Not using anything shipped with a daw - also give you freedom to swap to another daw without loosing your tools, and re-learning how a new daws tools sound. And you also get...

Re: latency settings and time alignment
#1. Since system is new I would calibrate interface first - something like this: a) connect analog out to analog in on interface b) record metronome running only See that no visible alignment problem with grid. I wish that MC could zoom in further, down to sample level, but that is not possible righ...

Re: submix within submix
I would do it like this: Make one lane for bottom mike, and one for top mike. Then this track can be part of submix - and you have one fader for snare as a whole. And use a compressor if you want. Each lane can also be automated separately on volume etc. You also have automation on each clip on volu...

Re: Is preference change needed when I plug or unplug headph
I skipped using main mix master track at all, and route everything to an output track..... (Etc.) While it may be a useful method in your particular setup, suggesting it every time to every user is likely not helpful and just confusing them. How about we first find out what they are doing and inter...

Re: Is preference change needed when I plug or unplug headph
I think what OP was doing was much more complicated.gypsy101 wrote: why make things so complicated?
Everytime going into preferences - and he felt so too, din't he?
I provided a solution that I felt are much simpler as a total solution.
Other answers were biting around the bush.

I find 16k highly overrated anyway....as I recall from....hmmm...a while back....aquataur wrote:I noticed that in my fading adolescence I have a hard time telling 8 and 16 kHz apart.

Re: Is preference change needed when I plug or unplug headph
I skipped using main mix master track at all, and route everything to an output track - which has easily selectable output destination right there in mixer. When running phones I use one output, and when using monitors it goes through external DAC through spdif outs. Using RME and Totalmix - you cou...

Re: cubase to mixcraft
I would even turn off any automation to have tracks original.
If lots of midi clips I usually keep other daw up, and just drag-n-drop and position as I go.
And depending on version there might be midi export or not. From Sonar I do the above.

Re: Submix and Output tracks
Since output tracks has an easily selectable output in mixer I prefer that instead on main mix(swapping headphones and monitors outs is easier). But if output track is used - the rendering is done apart from possible limiter on main mix. So I route everything to a master output track, and nothing to...

Re: Recording 2 signals, just want to hear one
Doing this I just record to two different tracks - select mono left on one and mono right on the other. You have to enable to allow multiple simultaneous recorded tracks in preferences. And just monitor the one you want, but arm for record on both. You have greater freedom mixing/panning these later.

Re: latency and such
I tried the usb 2.0 and still ran into the same issues when changing the sample to 32 or 64. Where do you normally have yours when recording? I've found somewhere around 128 or 256 to be the sweet spot, but once again I'm never using more than 40% of my cpu or ram. Do you think a new sound card or ...

Re: latency and such
Thanks for the responses. From what I've been told, you always want to read/write audio from a separate drive than your main with the os/etc. That was pretty much before the days of SSD. It had to do with that all read/write heads move between cylinders and a full random access cycle was much longe...

Re: OMF/AAF Import?
It would simplify moving projects from other daws for sure. Or possibly if devs talked to http://aatranslator.com.au and see if project could be handled directly. I can't see why not, since Tracktion is there(even though Mackie had them on making that happend). But handling OMF import would make AAT...

Re: Mixcraft 7 vs Protools
I had absolutely no idea this was a thing. I purchased protools 11 boxed (student price) from sweetwater. I had no idea that I'd have to pay again in a year. Check what you actually bought - there were some selling off PT 11 without subscription at all(old in stock stuff), and I also read some spec...

Re: latency and such
That being said, I still need to adjust to 256 or higher for some of my more demanding projects during playback, and recording with low latency on those projects is very hard, unless I mute a lot of the tracks/plugins. I would separate the playback/mixing part from recording part - to start with. P...
