Re: 10 sentences or less on getting vocals "in" the mix
I wrote a dissertation on loudness normalisation recently. In all my research I never came across one instance of someone insisting that dynamics are preserved when recordings are hypercompressed. I think most people who record are fully aware that the louder it gets, the more dynamics you lose. ht...

Re: 10 sentences or less on getting vocals "in" the mix
. See that? Almost ALL "names" compress. ”almost all "name" producers in the pop, rock and indie genres Another thing worth noting is that compression is a tool that was used, as you say, by the bucketloads to squeeze every last decibel of a mix. This has been a trend in the &qu...

Re: 10 sentences or less on getting vocals "in" the mix
There's really no way to microwave a response for this. First off, what kind of music? What do you want to emphasize most in your mix? Since mixing is very much a creative process, you have to determine what you want to drive, or be the focus of, your track. But...Here's a dirty little hack that wor...

Re: Plugin Manager question
Thanks Greg... Yes, it not a matter of not being able to find the instruments... More of an OCD thing really.Acoustica Greg wrote:Hi,
You do use the search function right? That makes it pretty easy to find any instrument. You can type in any part of an instrument's name.

Plugin Manager question
I've been trying to customize my plugin categories and noticed that there are many stock categories in the plugin window.
I have been trying to find a way to delete them so I can see just the user categories I have created. Am I overlooking something?

Re: ADD EFFECTS AT DIFFERENT TRACK POINTS?
There is more than one way of doing it, but anything that uses automation is not good, because the automation does not time the effect precisely enough. Also, because it is not immediately obvious, you are never sure exactly which effect is playing at any point in the project. 1. Duplicate the trac...

Re: Mixcraft Suggestions!
Hi, Just place the arpeggiator plugin before the other virtual instrument on the track. The MIDI will be modified by the arp and sent to the next instrument on that track. http://www.acoustica.com/images/forum-images/arpeggiator.png Greg Ah OK... Very good. Thank you! I guess my only suggestion now...

Re: Mixcraft Suggestions!
I think the two glaring issues are no internal midi routing and a pretty unintuitive sound browser. Just my $.02 You can currently route MIDI to effects and you can also route MIDI from one VSTi to another (assuming the VSTi supports it). What kind of MIDI routing are you looking for? I mean routin...

Re: Show plugin GUI on startup?
Hi, Thanks for the suggestion! For virtual instruments or effects, you can right-click on "Change Instrument" or "FX" to instantly pop open all the plugins on that track. Ctrl+right-click puts them all away. Also, in regard to effects plugins, Mixcraft 8 has the new "Show E...

Yes, this is exactly what I meant.Anorax wrote:Hobbs might also be referring to the moment that you load a new VST into an instrument track as "startup."
Is there a way to load the VST with the GUI by default.

Show plugin GUI on startup?
Is there a way to do this? It might be nitpicking but having to extra clicks to the panel is a bit of a workflow drag.
