Re: Losing Generic MIDI
Greg, See the illustration below. For some reason, under Software Devices, I see some MIDI with the appropriate names and other MIDI's just say "MIDI". When I check on the properties of each of these unnamed "MIDI" items, they show Automap HUI, Automap MIDI (3), teVirtualMIDI (lo...

Re: Losing Generic MIDI
I have restarted about eight times this morning.
I reinstalled the Korg driver twice, which requires a restart to finish each time. Greg, I double-checked that your Korg link above was the same as what I had downloaded, and they were identical.

Re: Losing Generic MIDI
Cactushead Thanks for the tip. I have just spend one hour and 45 minutes on this and I am now completely without MIDI! I tried removing some seemingly duplicate items from the Device Manager, under both the "sound video and game controller" and "software devices" sections of the ...

Re: Losing Generic MIDI
No, no Steinberg Products. I have a Focusrite Scarlett Audio Interface, and am currently using my Korg PA4x as my MIDI device. I have it hooked up through the Focusrite so that it can come in as an audio source, and I have it hooked up via USB as a MIDI keyboard as well. I used to just leave the set...

Re: Losing Generic MIDI
Both places...when I go to arm the track, and in Midi Preferences.
I thought Generic Midi was something supplied by Mixcraft or Windows, but you don't have it?

Re: Losing Generic MIDI
Greg, Nothing else (much) is running. No other music programs. Usually Chrome is the only other thing running. Only one copy of Mixcraft running. I have seen MIDI conflicts between say "Band in the Box" or another DAW when I left them running and went to use Mixcraft. But the symptoms were...

Losing Generic MIDI
Hi, Not infrequently, I go to record something on my MIDI keyboard, and nothing comes through. When I look, I see that "Generic Midi" is no longer listed under the "all midi input devices" dropdown. Usually, there is no cure for this except restarting my Windows 10 system. Exitin...

Re: Guitar VST recommendations, Electric and Strummed Acoustic
There is no one particular style of guitar that I want. I will try to explain my needs a little further. I am a songwriter. I used to play guitar in my youth, mostly folk style with open chords. But now I play and write music on a keyboard. Some of the songs in my head feel like guitar songs, and I ...

Re: Guitar VST recommendations, Electric and Strummed Acoustic
Thanks to everbody who has posted so far. Just to clarify, I want something that includes strumming patterns, and the ability to create and modify existing patterns, both for acoustic and electric. I have been tending to avoid writing "guitar songs" and focusing on keyboard, but I would li...

Re: Native Instruments Strummed Acoustic Issues
I just had a problem with a completely different plugin...where the VST3 plugin did not work in Mixcraft, but the regular VST did. And the symptom was that the instrument played back slower than the tempo indicated. It also played back normally when you hit the Play button inside the plugin window, ...

Guitar VST recommendations, Electric and Strummed Acoustic
I would appreciate hearing what people are using for strummed acoustic and electric guitars. I have looked at Ample, but it seems very few people are using it, and the latest demo download is crashing Mixcraft once or twice per session. Also, the patterns and chord changes don't seem to be on the co...

Re: Waves Tune
I've used Waves Tune for years with Cubase but despite dozens of attempts I've never been able to get it to work properly with Mixcraft. I did mention the problem years ago on the forum and was told that Mixcraft only works as a Rewire host, not as a slave. Also, as far as I know, Mixcraft is not o...

Re: Waves Tune
Mark, very helpful, thanks for taking the time. I am not interested in hard-tuned vocals, so perhaps I will look into upgrading Melodyne. I feel like I only barely know how to use it in the Essentials version (just push a note up and down, when I can't get an adequate vocal take). I did have a Waves...

Waves Tune
Does anybody have any experience, good or bad, using Waves Tune with Mixcraft? Good or Bad? Compared to Melodyne?
If you are a Waves user, you could also tell me about which Waves plugins you like. There is a 4th of July sale still going on.
Thanks for any info.
