Actually, you don't even have to go that far. You can simply arm one track to respond to one MIDI controller, and another track to respond to another MIDI controller, via the ARM dropdown. They can both transmit on the same MIDI channel, it doesn't matter.

Chances are that your MIDI keyboard is set to a MIDI channel other than Channel 1. Set your keyboard to MIDI Channel 1 and you'll probably have no problem controlling Xpand!2.
