Adding FX selectively

A fairly basic question please. What is the best way of applying effects selectively to certain points in a track? In the past I’ve duplicated tracks and applied a huge echo to the copy- then set the volume to zero throughout except the points where I want the big delay. I’ve also tried using automa...

Re: Selective Snap To

Thanks- "I just reread your post. You want to put beats behind? What do you mean by that?" - meaning that I've got a quite elaborate audio drama/spoken word piece which I'm now trying to add a backing track to. In the end I've mixed the entire thing down to a rough mix, put that in another project a...

Selective Snap To

Is it possible to have certain tracks snapping to grid and others not? I've got a quite elaborate series of clips which aren't rhythmical. I'm now wanting to put some beats behind them and not mess up the postioning of the exisiting clips... best way forward anyone?

moving automations

I’ve recently put together a track which I now want to cut the intro off. Technically on problem- select the part of remove and shunt everything across to the very beginning. Now the catch here is there’s loads of automation lines I’ve added which don’t move with the tracks and, ideally, I’d not wan...

Celtic Film Soundtracky Piece

A recent recording by me and a couple of pals. Featuring celtic low whistle and soprno osaxophone by me, double bass (one track plucked, one bowed and two of harmonics) and looped dulcimer. A sort of cletic mood piece & bit inspiried by bands like Afro-Celt Sound System... https://soundcloud.com/jul...

Re: 1950s Rock N Roll Sun Studios sound tips?

Another feature of old school recording tends to be very badly recorded drums. you might want to consider using deliberately ropey drum samples... maybe whack a cardboard box a few times as a base.. sounds flippant but I'm actually serious- listen to a some old rockabilly tunes

sax player interested in electronic collaborator

Hi folks anyone up for collaborating with a sax player (myself) on an electronica/ downbeat kind of project? I've got no real plan here just, with lockdown, I've got pretty bored musically and I like the idea of doing some trip hop/electronica/ film soundtrackish stuff with someone who's clued up on...

Best Effects for Grungy Punk Bass

I’m putting together a sort of punk jazz tune featuring drums, electric bass and horns. I’m looking to get a big, driving, upfront bass sound. What effects are worth running a bass through to bring it out in the mix and get a ‘bass friendly’ drive and some distortion? A lot of these effects seem to ...

Separating effect from original signal

Hi Folks
Is it possible to place the reverb of a particular track onto a different track so I can play back the reverb but no original signal (I'm on mixcraft 8 recording studio)?
