Re: recording are distorted

Sorry, I haven't had any issues and am not familiar with your guitar rig. Are you recording the DI signal (uneffected) from your guitar, or recording the processed signal? If you're recording the DI, does the DI recording sound ok?

Re: midi instrument - pitch different in render to mp3 than in normal playback?

Thanks Greg. I'll try that. I did change to 48k a while back and this might be the first time using synth plugs since then. appreciated. edit: Rendering to 48k wav file works fine with the vst3s that was having pitch problems above. thanks. Is there a way to go immediately to mp3 doing the same proc...

midi instrument - pitch different in render to mp3 than in normal playback?

Hi all, any body had issues with a midi instrument (lounge lizard sessions 4 vst3 in my case) playing back fine in the project, but changing pitch only when rendering to mp3? Or any known issues around that? I don't see any pitch modulation on the midi clip and unsure why (or don't understand why) i...

Re: VST3 - yes or no?

I mostly install vst3 now and don't have problem, however sometimes presets will load in vst2 that I have no way to load in vst3. This is common with Plugin Alliance plugins for instance, so vst2 for me for those. For example, the Blackbox HG-2 has presets that seem built into vst2 that I can't acce...

Re: Help an Old Bass Player Out Here...

Yeah, tend to agree, Sturdy. I suppose genre plays a part too. Modern styles seem to have a more 'spiky' sound, but I'm a kid of the 50's and 60's. Back in the day, round wound bass strings were unheard of. :D Yeah, I needed a brighter sound and the dead sound worked for some stuff but was detrimen...

Re: Help an Old Bass Player Out Here...

Actually changed the strings on my bass for the first time ever this year. Made a big difference. I think I've had the bass nearly 25yrs maybe? dead, dead, dead.... I bought the bass used, and bet the strings were original. Bass is Yamaha RBX650 - I think built in the early 90s, but not sure. The ac...

Re: Help an Old Bass Player Out Here...

To clarify, is your epiphone dreadnought an acoustic bass or guitar? fwiw, I've contacted the manufacturer for what string and guage they recommend and use for setup for their builds. edit: for example response I got from Larrivee: "Larrivee sets up and recommends D'Addario phosphor bronze stri...

Re: Hum removal

Yeah, I think Acon Digital's stuff is similar to RX, just at different price point, but I've never used RX due to cost. I'm pretty amazed at what it can do. Another worth considering is Brusfri by Klevgrand. I looked at both Brusfri and Acon Digital for noise reduction. I just got an email today fro...

Re: Hum removal

Acon Digital has some great noise reduction tools. Their restoration suite is very good at hum and noise removal.

Re: question for EQ users.

fwiw, I just put mixes together for songwriting, nothing super surgical, but here's what I use often. Low and high pass gets used often on guitars and basses to strip away low rumble or unneccessary high freqs. Additionally, I use mixcraft's 10 band eq plug (I think it's 10 band?) for tweaking speci...

Re: Mixcraft 9 vs 10

I like 10 alot, mostly just feels smooother to me. I liked 9 and never really had any problems with 9, but 10 feels more refined. One little thing that I really like is ability to change the endpoints of a loop without the loop stopping playing. It's a little thing, but that's one that pops to mind ...

Re: amp sims

For a sonic example, here's something I was working on with NAM today. It only has drums and 4 guitar parts at the moment. 2 of the guitar parts are Bassman captures, the Dev Crawford dimed capture mentioned above - love the growl on that thing - and a slightly cleaner capture from amalgam audio. Th...

Re: amp sims

Check out NAM. It's open source and is pretty much all I use now. It's top tier sound w/ great community. https://www.neuralampmodeler.com/ ...sounds interesting. I'll have to check that out too This set of captures of a bassman by Dev Crawford is what sold me on NAM. I've got a lot of sims from al...

Re: question: can one audio track drive two amp sims?

I've got some plugs that do a pseudo stereo thing pretty well - can sound awesome on a single miced acoustic instrument - but this is more like running 2 different amps with different settings on same guitar- one cleaner, one more overdriven. Either duplicating the source di, or setting up the sends...
