I've been using a custom desktop DAW, but as I am about to try Mixcraft, I will be using a laptop for 2 months or more. I need to know how to disable and enable the default sound card when I do not have the interface/DAW running. If it is too much trouble I may make other arrangements. Thank you.

In the old days external drives needed lots of power but these days you can even use a good quality thumb drive. The only danger is if there's a lot of data streaming through the hub you stand a chance of corruption. If you have a laptop and the drive is too small buy a bigger drive and use a Cloni...
