is there any software that you can turn an analog song into a midi file and then be able to show it on a piano roll? in other words i record a guitar or bass on one track with an actual instrument and then convert it to a .midi file?
that would be crazy!

i would bet this donut in my hand that your computer has either a virus or is less equipped then most music production computers. I have an quad core 8gb ram system with more vst then I will ever use (or know how to use) and even mine freezes occasionally especially if i'm running multiple applicati...

I did some session work with an old school pro musician recently who used to use keyboards as sequencers/samplers etc in the early days of midi exclusively (and those are some crazy huge manuals that makes nuendo look like it was written for and by autistic kids). Now he uses sonar 8 pe and when he ...

I don't think adding fx sends and busses would slow down anyones productivity. If you don't need them, don't use them. I say things like that are a must for me to use Mixcraft seriously! But basically as I understand busses which are handy for recording drums and really any situation with multiple ...

Well after using this software as my introduction to recording and then trying sonar, cubase, and fl studio guessing that I must be missing something. But I keep coming back to mixcraft and because I am a guitarist and bass player who goofs around at home I was guessing that I must be the more typic...

vocal recording in mixcraft
I am attempting my first real try at vocals. I will be using a snowball usb mic as well as a good ole fashioned dynamic mic through a tube presonus to see which is better. My music is rock in the style of Slash and Zakk Wylde (although I try not to get too self indulgent). Assuming no extra fx or vs...

so how is everyone enjoying the new 7 rc 64? i had been running the older 7 64 beta but would run into problems with other software such as some of the plugins etc but mixcraft worked great. thus i ended up going back to vista ultimate 64 but would love to hear if you guys recommend upgrading to the...

I think you are confused, I really want to know why most recording websites recommend interfaces over usb mixers since they both do the same thing but one just has way more features. But because they aren't recommended there must be some kind of issue with them maybe fx or distortion, otherwise ever...

doog yes you are right you can't tweak effects that are already recorded, but i've read that where you place effects in the chain going from the mixer to computer and beyond is critical and many engineers advise compression before recording. anyways though this is advanced engineering stuff and the ...

I know and agree as I'm currently on the same type of gear setup, but a usb mixer gives you all the advantages of an interface plus it has a built in preamp for vocals, plus the advantages (and there are many) of going digital with your mixer means that this current thinking will soon be outdated (I...

Instead of that, how about this! http://www.zzounds.com/item--MACU420D A usb mixer so you don't even need the interface, or the preamp from sonus I just bought. You just plug in the mixer into mixcraft and then you can do anything from recording bands to vocals w/no problem I think? In someone else'...
that behringer looks great but I'm not certain it would work on a 64 bit system, and then I'm debating if i shouldn't spend the extra dough and get the piece that dr. doog suggests here http://www.zzounds.com/item--PRSFSPROJECT. In the meantime I'm going to try plugging in my old mic into the Audio ...
