I don't see a problem. I may be reading something wrong, though.

What's happening seems normal to me: the more sound you add, the louder the mix gets (especially if it's the same sound over and over). Which is why you would need to use EQs, compressors and limiters to even everything out.

The only thing I can think of to make this easier is if you use the "snap to measure" feature. It makes it a less difficult to select tracks at exact points. If you use that, you won't have to zoom in so much to highlight tracks.

I suppose that it depends on what effects you are using and what you want the end result to be. Think of it this way: It's like you are adding one effect, saving the file as a wave, then opening it again, adding another effect, saving the file as a wave. And so on... So if you add auto-tune first an...

You could highlight all the clips, go to Edit, and then select "Remove Spaces Between Clips" (Or highlight and use Ctrl+J)

Volume adjustment for just the library would be wonderful.

I usually have my project tracks somewhat low to avoid clipping so I need to turn my computer volume up. The library sound can be quite loud as a result.
