Guitars and vocals were live, bass played live but converted to MIDI and assigned to Mixcraft's upright bass. Drums by EZDrummer and strings, flutes and piano MX instruments.

The device must first be set up - using CC messages.

Right click the MIDI button (next to preferences) and then 'MIDI learn' There are videos on YouTube - just type 'Mixcraft control surfaces'

Yeah - helps level overall volumes so compressor (if added) doesn't have to work too hard.

Not sure if this is what you mean; but you can copy any track or section of a track or indeed, whole portions of a song. Then while Mixcraft is still open, click on the 'New Project' button and then paste anywhere in the new project window.

There's no 'easy way' to describe how Melodyne works and what all the lines mean, sadly. Best, take a little time and have a look at the videos I shared in my earlier post. Once you get the hang of it, there's nothing better.
