Re: I need help, please (MC crash)
What's in the project? Audio files, virtual instruments, 3rd party plugins, ...? You said samples, which sounds like it might just be audio files? If so, try rebuilding the song from the raw audio files. 1) Open up a new project and add them in one at a time. 2) Move the files to a new folder. Then ...

Re: Mixcraft 5 and 6 have stopped working!!
Mixcraft 6 Pro has been working fine for me on Windows 8. Can you try using Mixcraft without the MobilePre / mic plugged in and see if Mixcraft still stops working? Maybe it's a driver issue. Typically (not always), device drivers are where the most problems occur on a new OS. Not that it couldn't b...

EQ tweaks can certainly help with some of that as well.

Re: Mixing Desks or Control Surfaces??
Or you could just get a cheap usb controller, like the Nanokontrol.
I don't have the Nanokontrol, but I have a Nanopad 2 and Nanokey 2 (from the same line of products), and they're both pretty nice. Cheap, with a lot of functionality packed into a small form.

Re: Mixing Desks or Control Surfaces??
What did you use to go from the midi out to the usb in? I assume you need something like a Midisport hub to handle that conversion for you.

Re: Mixcraft 5 refuses to load further VSTis
It's easy to see what your total memory usage is. Open task manager and go to the performance tab. (It may be slightly different between OSs, but it's there somewhere.)
While this instance loaded with vsts is running, can you open a 2nd Mixcraft instance and load Voyager?

Re: MIDI composing/arranging discussion.
PS: If you're curious about the seemingly random number 127, that's due to midi's roots in early computer hardware. A max value of 127 has 128 total values (0-127). It's all about binary, 0s and 1s, and the powers of 2. These days, it would be easy to work around and create whatever limits and range...

Re: MIDI composing/arranging discussion.
To further attempt clarification, compare it to an actual instrument...you can strum the guitar softly, or bang the crap out of it. That's like velocity. Now inside of Mixcraft, you have the sound coming in, and you can turn that volume up or down. Over 100% is possible with a guitar as well, boosti...

Re: MIDI composing/arranging discussion.
Velocity is midi data, roughly corresponding to how hard you hit the note (if you were to use something like a keyboard to enter the notes). Most virtual instruments will use the midi velocity for relative volume adjustments. The volume (which goes up to 200%) that was shown in Mixcraft is more like...

Re: MIDI line erasure?
You can get a great hi-hat sound out of the Studio Drums. It's one of my favorite parts. Put the open hi-hat sound in and let it ring and then put the closed hi-hat sound, with a slight overlap I think?
It sounds great, I use it...probably too much.

Re: Intergrating Beatcraft with Mixcraft.
With the drum map in Mixcraft 6, creating beats in the piano roll is just as easy as Beatcraft. Ignore things like midi CC#s until you get the hang of it. Turn on Snap-To Whatever (8th notes or so should be an easy start). Zoom in until the block size you see matches whatever your snap-to size is. I...

The Kontakt player is. Install Kontakt and open that up inside of Mixcraft. Navigate to the .nki files and BAM!
There's a free version of the Kontakt player, but I think certain libraries require the full version. Not completely sure.

Re: Which MIDI Keyboard to buy?
Most of the reasonably priced keyboards I know of that can be either live or USB/midi are smaller, typically 49 or even keys. M-Audio Venom is something I've been thinking of picking up for a while. hellomusic.com currently has Arturia's The Laboratory 61 for $359. That's probably exactly what you w...
