Yes You & I Excerpt produced in Mixcraft 8 Beta

Instrumental excerpt using a heavily re-edited imported midi file, and mixed down in MX8 to WAV. This was just an exercise
to evaluate the beta software, which performed extremely well.

Re: Audio Interface survey

For those not needing a lot of inputs: Asus Xonar Essence STX I work almost exclusively with VSTs and don't need a lot of inputs so this is ideal for me. A very basic card with AMAZING sound (This comes from someone who played in orchestras for 50 yrs). This replaces my M-Audio Audiophile 192 which...

Took me back to when I used to listen to Rush (Cygnus X-1, Closer to the Heart). I could imagine Geddy Lee's voice floating over it :)

Gary
I even "pomped" it up a bit with my occasionally trusty old Moog Taurus's, in deference to the genre.

Second Mixcraft 6 Opus

Another composition that just fell out of Mixcraft. A slow burner, with a dramatic build and a lot going on! Another one for big speakers. Again, I part-used Mixcraft's included loops to generate the basic structure, then built around it to deliver what you hear. Track and details on Sound Cloud as ...

Thank you.

Of particular help was the use of Mixcraft's drum loop library, as it enabled me to quickly map out the drum section, then substitute in MC6's VST drums to augment the original loops and change individual drum voices to add more definition.

First big project in Mixcraft 6 - Epic alert!

For those who enjoy a bit of progressive esoterica, this is for you. Soundcloud link: http://snd.sc/19l0dSm Though it's a static mix, I found MC6 a very simple environment to fine-set mix levels and apply effects. I also found it far quicker and simpler than my previous experiences with Cubase and S...

Re: GM2 midi files - MC6 instrument auto-assign

Thanks Greg, yes that indeed is how I open a midi file.

I can only presume that the instrument name either appearing or not appearing on the instrument column of MC6, is down to what's embedded in the original midi file.

Re: GM2 midi files - MC6 instrument auto-assign

I've partly answered my own question in that I have now found how to identify the voice Mixcraft has assigned on an imported GM midi track. Press the keyboard button on the midi track - then select show details (with the spanner symbol) - the instrument ID number and name is then displayed. You stil...

Re: Auto Name Midi Tracks

Can you please allow a midi track to be auto named after its instrument. This gets my vote too. When opening (as an import) General Midi or XG classical song files with say 20-30 instruments, it's very useful knowing exactly what instrument (and which variant thereof) Mixcraft has auto-assigned to ...

Thanks for the link fredfish. Hopefully with others raising this, it might gain inclusion in MC7.
