Re: No description

Killer stuff Mark, thanks for sharing this! Oh, to have just 10 % of her keyboard skills.... While I have your good ear, I'm working with m-audio bx5 carbon near-field monitors, and I've noticed on my last few mixes that when they sound pretty good, after burning a disc and playing it on other syste...

Two recent losses for the music world....

Recently passed on to the band/studio in the sky-- J. Geils, RIP. Ikutaro Kakehashi, in Japan at age 87. Kakehashi was a pioneer of MIDI, founder of the Roland corporation, and inventor of the TR-808 drum machine..(the rest is history). As I understand it, the TR-808 came about as a result of a faul...

Re: New track 'Longing'

Hi Dave,

I really enjoyed this track-- smooth and calming. Yeah, maybe a little strong on the sax? The rest sounds good to me, I like the synth work. Thanks, Rick. 8)

Handy time saver-- I've used it quite a bit in piano roll editing. Thanks Mick.

PBS "Soundbreaking" series.

If you have a local public broadcasting affiliate I recently caught one episode of a series called "soundbreaking". This episode dealt with the advent of magnetic tape and multi-tracking, and how it's influenced music today. Starting with Les Paul and Mary Ford, onward to the Beatles "revolver" albu...

Re: Question about MX file size....

Hi Greg, thanks for the reply.. I'm not using performance panel or any effects on this project yet. I did try moving an older Mixcraft 6 project to MX7-- it takes a slight hop in size, but is still under 300 KB. Could Pianissimo be causing the jump in file size? As aj113 said, 3 KB is nothing, just ...

Question about MX file size....

Hi all, I recently upgraded from MX6 to 7pro studio, and have started working on my first project with this version. The project so far has only 6 or 8 tracks, with NO effects or eq applied yet I've noticed the Mixcraft file size is already over 3,000 KB. I have older, finished MX6 projects with lot...

Re: Little glitches...

Hi Eric, thanks for the reply-- On the track height thing, my bad..duh, I was simply letting go of the shift key too soon-- works perfectly. I will be away from my computer/daw from oct.5 till oct. 27, so may not be able to follow up on this right away. The fact that one of my tracks stays a differe...

Little glitches...

Hello all, I recently upgraded from Mixcraft 6 to 7 pro studio, (great!), but I have 2 little "problems". The first I can't really call a problem, since it doesn't affect sound quality, but I'm curious... My current project is in early stages using vstis. It's only 8 tracks, with no effects in place...

Re: Aspect & Where - Originals

Thanks AE,

I just listened to your tracks, Aspect, and Where. Nice synth work, and good percussion tracks! Shades of the 80's. Enjoyed them both.. 8) Rick.

Re: Little song, big learning experience....

Thanks Mark, Definitely found your advice and suggestions very helpful. Yeah, "when is it finished?" is always a problem for me. Simpler tunes are about all I can manage at this point-- 3 years of accordion lessons as a kid only gave me half of a keyboard education, the rest-- I just have to wing it...

Boogie down M@rkus! Where the heck is my white "John Travolta" suit? Great job of capturing the 70's disco essence! Excellent percussion track, and nice work on the bass-- I think Rutger would be proud 8) ...Rick.

Re: After rain

Beautiful arrangement and melody-- Really a nice , quiet thoughtful piece! I like what you did with the pizzicato strings and cello part. I recently tried a short "orchestral" piece with Mixcraft vsts, (see my user showcase post of 5-24 for the link). My piece sounds overly busy compared with this.....
