Setting Levels for ASIO devices

Hi, I just want to make sure I'm getting this right. I've got a Focusrite 6i6. It has 4 analog inputs, 2 with a preamp and an input level control, and 2 line inputs with the choice of either hi or lo gain. As I understand it, in ASIO mode, the level controls in Mixcraft do not perform any function e...

Re: How Do I record Multiple Audio Sources on Separate Track

Problem with Firewire is that only a couple of Firewire chipsets are supported by most interfaces. I don't remember which off the top of my head, but you can do some research at www.gearslutz.com or www.thegearpage.net.

Re: How Do I record Multiple Audio Sources on Separate Track

But are you recording all the instruments at the same time?

Re: How Do I record Multiple Audio Sources on Separate Track

You are correct, you're going to need a new interface with multiple inputs. Since you are going through the 2i2, it's only going to give you up two tracks into Mixcraft, as you are only giving it two inputs. Since you are using stereo, you are only getting one track with two stereo sides. If you wan...

What's your favorite thing about MC7?

Well, I couldn't help but start this... For me... Well, when you scroll through the list of Default Virtual Instrument Presets, there's one called "Hi Tom" Made me feel all warm inside :) Other than that, let me count the ways. I've been using both MC6 and MC7 for a while now, and I must say I love ...

Re: Question about how to use keys

And, yes, I keep telling people I use Mixcraft, and they should, too. :) I've tried and have licenses for Audacity, Reaper, Studio One 2, and Ableton Live 9, and I keep using Mixcraft. It's just so easy to use and I get everything I need done quickly and without hunting from day one. (My cat is snor...

Re: Question about how to use keys

I have no problem with not enforcing assumed flats and sharps. I just think it should be clear that's what's being done as you are entering notes. I'm sure it's good to have the flats and sharps shown in the signature to quickly remind people what key the song is in.... But it seems to me, that they...

Re: Question about how to use keys

Are you writing in the piano roll or notation view? Because composing in the piano roll automatically assumes whatever you're entering is in the project key, and doesn't enforce sharps/flats. So in your example, does the clip sound like the key of C or the key of F#? I'm writing in "Score" mode. Ok...

Question about how to use keys

This is really a general Mixcraft question, but I'm asking it here because, 1. The way stuff works has changed, and 2. Might be a good subject for the documentation if it's not already covered. Really, a basic question, but I'm feeling confused about it. I'm doing a song where I'm using some audio, ...

Re: INPUT DEVICE NAME true story (Mixcraft proposal..)

So Krisz,

I was somewhat confused by your post. You show multiple inputs for like acoustic guitar, and so on. I'm assuming each USB input is a different USB mic (or Keyboard)? Can Mixcraft read from all the USB ports, each as a separate input for a different track?

Yep, Saturday, I created a crash, upgraded to 237, and the crash went away, so I didn't bother to report it.

Re: b235: Can't control track volume in track (?)

It's the clip automation in just one of the clips. All the other clips are acting appropriately.

b235: Can't control track volume in track (?)

Build 235 There are two automation lines. One in the track, and then you can show the Automation lane with the button with the little water molecule on it. I've got a audio track I recorded in my project, where the automation lane on the track itself is not selectable. IOW, on all other tracks, as I...

Re: How to work with stereo tracks?

In the past, I've recorded myself acoustically, recording both the line out and mic'ing the acoustic guitar, and putting another mic on my voice. By moving the line out and the guitar mic to the left and right respectively and leaving my voice in the center (again with some bleed of the guitar), I n...

Re: How to work with stereo tracks?

Well, right now, I'm taking the Coursera Berklee Jazz Improvization class. It's in the second week where we need to record ourselves doing scales. So I'm recording myself playing scales over backing tracks I created, and I'm trying to make it sound a little more interesting by playing with the stere...
