Interface is important but so are your computer specs, if your pc isn't powerful enough you'll have trouble regardless.

Use ASIO and uncheck 'use device preferred setting', what's that spdif input? You should just have usb connected from I/O to pc. And as J said if you have any other audio device plugged in, unplug it.

If it was all set up and running properly before, try another usb port, make sure you're not using a hub. Could also try a new cable. Make sure Audient is set as default Windows sound device but this seems a bit like MC sees it, it just can't communicate.....

I would highly recommend checking out Fabfilter ProQ3, a truly remarkable eq. It costs but if you can get it on sale, worth every penny.

You could set up a template or maybe you can save different midi configurations in Mix>Midi Control Surfaces? It would be nice to just right click any knob or fader and assign any control you like, like many plugins already offer too.

Just hit the arm button in the automation drop down and you can use the fader for volume real time, if you have a fader set up for the track.
