Re: For A Day

Sounds fine on my system; I have average speakers and I don't listen to anything in earphones.
Nice sound. I like the change down right in the middle - maybe that could be drawn out/brought out a bit more.

tracking down the makers of the Mixcraft plugins

Since I had nothing to do yesterday, I opened up the Mixcraft plug ins [Glass Viper, memory moon etc] and did some Googles. I came to the site QuikQuak who is the developer of The Glass Viper: http://www.quikquak.com/index.html Interestingly, the developer [ Paul I have forgotten ?] has made a lot o...

I have tried might and main to install Kontakt

I own 3 DAWs - Mixcraft, FL Studio and Reaper. FL Studio and Reaper have installed the full version of Kontakt with no problems. But Mixcraft can't install Kontakt at all. I have tried everything. Every path. Setting a path with Mixcraft. Nothing has worked. So for now I use FL Studio for any Kontak...

Re: Experimental Ambient: Triton's Wails

Thanks for the comments! I used a type of jazz improvisation technique. I created an instrument combination in Mixcraft. Then I spent 30 minutes "studying" how on my Arturia Minilab certain keys and chords produced certain effects. For instance I found that certain chords produced the gong crashes t...

Experimental Ambient: Triton's Wails

Today I decided to do something experimental. I don't know if people will love it or hate it. [if you hate it that is 100% OK - musical creativity is about people having their own responses to music]. This is my first published Youtube piece using the Mixcraft publishing and video tools. All constru...

Mixcraft and Linux: weird request

I am one of the volunteer testers for a piece of Software called Crossover. It is a sophisticated layer on top OF WINE. Crossover tries to get Windows programs to run on Mac or Linux. So for the last few weeks I have been testing Mixcraft 7 on Linux. I haven't given it a score out of 5 yet. It plays...

Re: Unix?

Actually, let me chime in here. There is software called Crossover that you can get. It is paid software that aims to run Windows software on Apple or Linux/Unix. I am one of the Crossover volunteer testers. So what I might do over the next week is to run Mixcraft on Crossover in Ubuntu and see what...

Being Creative but not being able to Create

I would argue that the following state is the worst aspect of the human condition. I would rather have a million dollars and lose it in a washing machine. I would rather be enslaved by The Wombles or the Teletubbies. On a daily basis I think of more weird/creative things than most people think of in...

Re: Creating a band logo

I have a diploma in Graphics Design [ yes, even though I can't draw!] and I have looked at every cheap or free bit of software on the planet. Let's start with free. The best 2 logo creation programs are GIMP and Inkscape. I prefer inkscape. The only thing to be careful of with Inkscape is that its S...

Re: Your Creativity and The White Flag

I just don't make anything in drawing that I am proud of. I might start another thread on my music learning experiences because the learning curve has been better in those. I've also given up on all formal study - that is study for any degree, diploma etc. All my study is on my own from books, websi...

Your Creativity and The White Flag

I guess that everyone here has some musical creativity. So my question is about other creativity: what creative activity have you given up on because it's too hard? For me it's drawing. First of all, let's get the hard work/classes point out the way. I went to a drawing class 20 years ago. It didn't...

Re: Questions on how to operate synths like Acoustica Nightlife

why don't you like messing with synths Mark? Just not my thing, not a fan of the vast majority of the sounds made and way to fiddly. Too many choices might be part of it. 8) And besides, you know that song by the band "Europe" "Final countdown"? I rest my case. Mark, for not liking synthesise...

Mixcraft and BlueArp: experiments

Today I installed the free blueARP arpeggiation tool into Mixcraft. According to the Mixcraft 7 manual at http://www.acoustica.com/mixcraft/v7/he ... ments.html you just put blueARP above your virtual instrument. I found that this worked! Then I started playing with this with various instruments and...
