Re: I have some questions about mixcraft's MIDI

1 - Mixcraft=No, Cakewalk=Yes, Cubase=? Although it IS possible to assign MIDI notes in one track to different MIDI channels, they cannot be overlapped in MC8. 2 - No 3 - Mixcraft=No, Cakewalk=Yes, Cubase=? 4 - Too much to list here. Read the manual and google Mixcraft MIDI. Watch YouTube videos fro...

Re: Doubling MIDI Notes in Piano Roll

I need to play with this in MC8 a little more. In my "other" DAW, if I clone a MIDI track I have to insert a 2nd instance of the VST to play it. When they both play the same notes they try to cancel each other out causing unpleasant sounds. Yet when I double a note within the same track this didn't ...

Re: Doubling MIDI Notes in Piano Roll

I just stumbled across something weird about this... If you place a MIDI note directly over another one and DON'T click the mouse within the Piano Roll window, they will remain together. You may click up in the time line to set the Now Time and still be OK. But if you DO click within the window afte...

Re: Doubling MIDI Notes in Piano Roll

Thanks Mick. I'm still learning the differences in how Piano Roll works here compared to other DAWs. I realize the one track limitation. What I want to do is overlap 2 midi notes on the same track at the same time point. eg: 02:03:00. Not only is it not possible but any note that overlaps another en...

Doubling MIDI Notes in Piano Roll

Is it possible to layer a MIDI note on top of another in the Piano Roll?

I used to do this in another DAW for certain effects, but when I try it in MC8 it doesn't seem to work. When I place a note over another one and remove it, only one exists.

Re: Keys Not The Same Width In Sound Tab

Yes. OK. And to confuse you further, the black keys on a real piano are actually evenly spaced. All 12 keys (black & white) in an octave are the same width measured at the inner half (roughly 1/2"). The black keys "look" oddly spaced only because the outer ends of the white keys around them have to ...

Re: Keys Not The Same Width In Sound Tab

What on earth are you on about???. Why the keys arent of equal width. (see OP) To make them equal requires 8 white key graphic files. The current oddly width white keys (used by most DAWs) only require 4. It has nothing to do with keeping the grid rows of equal width as I implied in my first post.

Re: Keys Not The Same Width In Sound Tab

So my logic is flawed. The real reason the keys aren't of realistic widths is to conserve file space. The current display requires only 4 white keys. A realistic display would require 8. So you're getting the "economy" version. :?

Re: Windows Update Last night NOW POPS

Sometimes after a Windows update removing and reinstalling your interface drivers helps.

Otherwise try switching to another audio source if available and compare and then switch back.

Re: Switch to 64 bit?

All 32 bit OS's are limited to 4GB of ram and the amount actually available is usually less than that, so any app demanding more than 4 will run way slower, hang, or crash. Windows 10 Home x64's limit is 128GB. Windows 10 Pro is 2TB. I run both 32 & 64 bit versions of everything I have. Since I star...

Re: PRV Controller Data nolonger editable

PRV=Piano Roll View. Apparently the problem wasn't MC8 but me forgetting you can't right-click edit a velocity controller like you can a pitchbend or pedal ON/OFF controller. Says so right in the manual. The other issues are also O/E (operator error). Still would be nice to be able to move co...
