I'm working a lot with copy/paste and it works great without any fine-placing.

First problem I see here is that your timeline is set to time and not the beats.

If you change it to Beats and trim the clips to the bar then, it should paste in the right position.

Turning off backups is not recommended for most people. If somebody finds it usefull, than ok. I turned them off in MX7 and haven't lost even one project since. Project files between 1-2 MB each, 50 saves per session and you have folders big enough to clean them after every one... Once the session ...

Develop the habit of hitting save periodically, combined with "save as" and rename in stages, so you have a version to go back to if you dont like the path you have taken a path you decide to abandon it. I've found it best way possible too. 'Save as' after every big step, and 'save' after every lit...

Copy/paste IS an easy way to do it, as long as the main beat (the one that you set other clips to) is looping according to project tempo.

If it's not, you probably have to set it manually everytime you copy/paste.

If it is, write what exactly cause the problem when you copy them.
