Re: Your review of inexpensive plugins

Waves Bass Rider (currently $29) has been a real winner for me. I no longer have to worry about my playing (as much) because this plug in helps in both directions - if I get a bit too "Enthusiastic" and pluck a string too hard - it softens it. But if I'm playing a quick part and wind up only "grazin...

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

Looks like it may be time for Greg to chime in again - because I'm confused a bit. My understanding, which runs contrary to some of the things posted here recently: 1. If you have both a 32bit and a 64bit plugin for a given effect or instrument, 64bit Mixcraft will use the 64bit version and ignore t...

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

Hi Greg - I certainly understand why there are 32bit plugins as part of the 64bit version. But as you said, it will use the 64bit version if available. It appears in many of the 3rd party plugins that come with Mixcraft, there is no 64bit version. Some of the Mixcraft ones as well. And while I'm on ...

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

Hmmm - rereading this I see I forgot about VST3 plugins. Maybe I'm not done yet. Yes - this is a lot of work for "nothing". But worth it for me because I unnecessarily created a mess by creating VST folders of my own (avoiding them being in the Program folders because I don't think of them as progra...

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

DONE! Well worth it I think. I inventoried every VST and VSTi that Mixcraft found in the many folders I had it point to. Noted which ones had 64bit alternatives vs those that didn't. (A surprising number of those that came with Mixcraft are 32bit only) Obviously kept all the Mixcraft ones. For the o...

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

More info - It turns out I had the 64bit versions of my purchased plugins except EZDrummer - and that was easy to get from them. So... On to the third party freebies. I intend to put them in the recommended folders - separating 32bit and 64bit. Not at my Mixcraft computer - but the only thing that m...

Re: Mixcraft Project Folder Question

So to summarize - I think - the question is

No matter what folder we choose to use to save our projects -
why does Mixcraft sometimes put it in the root of that folder, and other times automatically create a subfolder.

RElated question - what triggers an automatic backup?

Re: Mixcraft Project Folder Question

What is curious is that there are no backups for the projects that are in the root of the main project folder. A bit concerning in that this should be automatic.

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

This is moving along smoothly. Last step will be putting the third party free plug ins in a standard place.

Re: Kontakt question

As I hoped and others speculated, the player is all that mattered. Kontakt is the plugin, not the library of sounds (Chris Hein Horns in this case)

So my 64 bit Kontakt player is in, and the library works great inside of it

Re: 32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

Still think your fretting too much about this Bill. The important factor remains that they just load and work, wherever they are installed. Stay in tune, Mark I'll respond in more detail when I have time, but in my work today, this has proven to be true. The issue is, I think, I created confusion fo...

Kontakt question

Third question / post today I have one product that uses Kontakt player. Chris Hein Horns (compact) . I can't tell if it is 64bit or 32 bit - or if such a thing even exists. That is - is that even an attribute? Or is it simply a matter of loading a 64bit Kontakt player, which then triggers Chris Hei...

Mixcraft Project Folder Question

I store my projects in my own folder called Mixcraft Projects under my documents directory. I notice that in some case, I have a mx8 file under that directory. But in other cases I have a folder that has the mx8 file as well as a backup folder and a couple other files. To my knowledge, I dont' do an...

32bit vs 64bit VST/VSTi - Reorganization

I've decided to reorg my plugins to some more standard file structure - rather than the mess I have today. I've received some suggestions from another thread and I'm summarizing that - plus my preferences - in this one. Categories and comments: Acoustica - leave them alone; when I load Mixcraft I le...

Re: Using both 32 bit and 64 bit Mixcraft - potential pitfalls?

"I use my 32 bit plugins with a wrapper" I recall this discussion from a while ago (32bit plugins within 64bit Mixcraft causing issues) Is it still the case? Is the use of a "wrapper" for any 32bit plugin still advised? Or with more recent builds, is it no longer necessary? And the most important qu...
