Re: USB Interface Recommendations

I think it's a wise decision to go for a dedicated audio interface over the sound card. In the under $400 (new) range, practically every current interface has comparable quality converters, so I wouldn't spend much time obsessing over that. The most important feature IMO is stability of drivers. In ...

Re: Why Only 16-Bit From ASIO Interface

.... So how would I attach my mics (which use XLR cables) XLR to 3.5mm adapter? or XLR mic into mixer, then mixer out to sound card input? Basically you'd want to avoid using the USB converter on the mixer. By staying with the mixer's analog audio ins/outs, you are preserving the 24-bit depth all t...

Re: Why Only 16-Bit From ASIO Interface

According to the Profx8 v1 manual, the onboard USB converter is limited to 16 bit, 44.1, 48 khz recording. These types of USB mixers are not really designed for multitracking, but for summing audio in and out of your computer. One solution for recording at 24 bit is to try using your onboard sound c...

Reboot your system, then reset and rescan your VST plugins. If that doesn't solve the problem, try an uninstall/reinstall of MC 8 Pro, then rescan the plugins again.

Re: Ear piercing exploding noises when core audio options set 24 bit and beyond

I’m using integrated motherboard sound with no dedicated sound card. I have the waveRT selected with the ASIO option grayed out. I’m assuming that means I do not have the ASIO drivers installed. My pc can handle 24 and 32 bit for sure just need to get this noise burst problem out of the way. I’ll b...

Thanks Greg, I stand corrected... Of course, this still leads to the next logical step: OP trying an ASIO driver (native or asio4all).

Re: Ear piercing exploding noises when core audio options set 24 bit and beyond

Noise bursts are typically related to your sound card drivers. Are you using an onboard sound card or dedicated audio interface? Make sure you have the latest version of the driver. If you are using a generic sound card, try the free asio4all driver. "Core audio" is a Mac driver term. Are you runnin...

Re: 64 vs 32 bit (yeah, again - sorry)

You shouldn't have to buy anything again just to switch from 32 to 64 bit. If you own the license, that entitles you to download/install whichever version you prefer. That said, with your powerhouse system, I'd normally advise to go all 64-bit, but the problem is you are still on Mixcraft 5 which is...

Check your Windows system log (in event viewer) to see if there are any errors indicating a failing hard drive.

Re: Mixdown takes 30+ minutes to start

So this behavior is associated with certain projects? You don't get this just opening Mixcraft on its own (with nothing loaded)? How are you opening these project files? Double-clicking on the file, or opening MC and choosing the project? If it's one, try the other. Do any of these projects share th...

This is good advice.

BTW, I responded to your other thread as I didn't see this one. Install ASIO4all, and set Mixcraft to use that driver and see what happens.

Re: Greg, Dan, or Eric

I'm not Greg, Dan or Eric, but will try to help... What is your O.S., Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10? What is your audio interface/ sound card? Version of Mixcraft? Latest build? If on Windows 10, the most common cause for "overnight" problems nowadays are forced O.S. updates. (Windows update...

Re: Steinberg Steinberg announces "VST 2 coming to an end"

I'd be very surprised if MC devs haven't been fully aware of this for awhile. Also, reading the whole statement, this segment stands out: VST 2 compatibility with Steinberg VST hosts will remain, however, we recommend to root for the latest version of VST... Bottom line, even Steinberg's own hosts C...

Corrupt download? Maybe try again, using a download manager.

If from CD/DVD media, you should be able to download the latest version from Acoustica once you create an account and register Mixcraft.

Re: Trouble arming USB recordings

Things to try (Start with the first one, and if that doesn't fix it, move to the next): - Do the devices show up under Device manager? If not, the drivers have gotten corrupted and need to be reinstalled (Disconnect them before installing software). Reboot the system. - Move the two USB device cable...
