If you have a Strat style guitar (with single coil pickups), stay away from your computer monitor! The buzz is horrendous. Humbucker dual coil pickups are not as bad, but still introduce some hum. (And I like to do all my guitar recordings with a line in, not a mic. Eric and I have agreed to disagre...

It sounds like your computer is struggling to keep up and that is why I asked. The more effects, the more processing power is required. When I pitch shift 3-4 channels at once I get these symptoms, but pitch shifting is extremely CPU intensive. And no, the mixer should not have any effect on things....

Actually, you should be running to the line-in of your sound card as the line-out out of your amp is a preamped source which is usually not compatible with the mic input of a sound card. The amount of latency you are hearing is huge. Is Mixcraft set to record from your sound card (check the settings...

You need a cable like this to go between the mixer and the laptop. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Hosa-Stereo-YCable-Mini-Male-2-14-Mono-Males?sku=333053 There are other ways to connect the two including using a cable that runs from the tape out to the mic in on the laptop. But, you may stil...

Ummm- No. I don't think you can use a condensor mic with that mixer. It does not have phantom power. Does your laptop have just a mic input or does it also have a line-in input? I don't believe you can use the mixer into a mic input as there would be an impedance mis-match. The mixer needs to go int...

It's been awhile since I used stereo mics, and don't have one now. Back then, they had two XLR connectors on their cable and I used them on a mixer. Each channel I plugged them into was panned either left or right to match which side of the mic it came from. I'm not sure what connectors are on each ...

Analysis of this problem. Hardware Type: Microphone (mono), Preamp Behringer VX2496 (mono), Soundcard (stereo). Please note that all microphones are mono. FWIW- Actually, stereo microphones are quite common and used mostly in live recordings of large spaces. Example- http://www.musiciansfriend.com/...

Hey Eric- I think he should be able to hear the input of his guitar through the speakers/headphones while he is recording. Although I run a mixer, when I am recording, I listen to any instrument I am recording by listening through the speaker output of the sound card (actually I use headphones conne...

Just be sure you use the "line-in" of the soundcard, and not the "microphone" in port or you will have an impedance mis-match with terrible distortion. The quality of the sound from the headphone jack varies tremendously from amp to amp. The out put from the headphones of my Marshall DFX series amp ...

I figured out how to listen to just the drum track in my head phones with Mixcraft and m-audo 2496. I just mute the recording track in the m-audio control center, I can then listen to only the drums in head phones and the guitar is muted but it still records, so it is working perfect now!!! On a si...
