Re: Clue needed...

I'm working on a wav sound file (from a live performance) and a peak is indicated but it's really not showing an inordinate amount of power on the form mmm must be something on the FX of the audio track#3 you are showing? (we can't see audio track#1 in your image) sometimes I've had problems when a...

Re: Song production - what are your go-to songs you admire?

Nicky, check your Dropbox folder for some Tambourine samples to evaluate. 8) I think mixing into some modest bus compression is usually a good idea, certainly nothing wrong with that. In a way it becomes a matter of thinking micro and macro simultaneously I think. (Actually, I think mixing/masterin...

Re: After rain

I like this a LOT.
The Cello is one of the better MC sounds I feel, and sounds magnificent here.
The sound quality is high, and I think you've done a great job!

Re: Song production - what are your go-to songs you admire?

Well I did say it might be interesting..... Try just setting the upper frequency range to 25 or 30K. I dont know if its truly useful there, but it might be interesting. 8) OK thanks, I'm gonna try that when I get home tonight! The George Michael track has a lot of hihat and tambourine conten...

Re: Song production - what are your go-to songs you admire?

Now that is gonna be useful! thanks Mark! sp.jpg Now.... it *is* confusing tho, because it shows 96k. Now, yes, I've recorded mostly with 96k resolution, but I don't want to be hearing 96kilohertz sounds! a graph in the range of 22-30 would be plenty! It's all gone a bit weird, mixing up resolution ...

Re: Song production - what are your go-to songs you admire?

If it was anyone else I would respond with something like "don't concern yourself so much with what you see, rely on your ears" or something. But no. Nicky is using her ears, eyes, brain, and travelling a little faster than this old fart can keep up with! No one could possibly fault you with settin...

Re: Song production - what are your go-to songs you admire?

How much of this might have anything to do with what mic they /you used? -h I think there's some element of that, yes. Hi hat and shakers samples are there though, vocals with a Rode which is quite bright, but a Shure Beta for acoustic. The frequencies are there, but, multiband peak limiting, satur...

Re: Song production - what are your go-to songs you admire?

This is (partly) why I do this... of course, it's to be amazed by melody - and brought to tears by it - and to try to create a tiny bit of that myself. But also, my love of music and *sound* means that for me, it's not enough to just record something. I must have it sounding ever closer to a track I...

Re: Mastering in Mixcraft.

I've tried many ways too. What I like about Mixcraft 7.7 that needs re-mentioning is it's "Mix down" to 32bit-float option, allowing me to take a (in theory) flawless rendering of my mix into a separate project for mastering. It's a cool option, and then one from which eg. you could render your 96/2...

I've considered that ZED range too, looks marvellous... but was unable to find good info, but saw hints that it was 16bit (ie not 24) only, anyone confirm?

Verbose "Undo" commands, i.e., the operation that you are undoing or redoing is shown on the menu.
+1 for this, it works brilliantly in Photoshop (where I use it a lot), just a history panel/window

Re: And She's Gone - Final Mix w/ Video

Wanted to give it some more pop. Ended up using some master eq. Think it did a decent job, but the vitaliser was dropping vox almost like it was creating a phase cancelation? But would consistently do it. Playing project more that 10 bars before the last chorus, caused main vox to drop. Playing les...

Re: You *need* an amazing Chorus effect

I just tried this with one of my vocal tracks. I found that wide stereo effects were impressive, but when converted to mono it lost a bit of level in the mix, as well as sounding a bit metallic and muddy, likely caused by some phase-cancellation. I agree that this should only be used subtly, but fo...

Re: Mixcraft for film/TV audio

Anyone got experience with the Melda freeware plugin VSTs?
They have a freeware loudness meter VST, I've not used it but seen it (although it doesn't seem as pretty as some eg the Toneboosters one) & thinking about it to know my LUFS from my DR...
