Re: I am so proud of Mixcraft!

From one British person to another, that was pretty darn good! You must continue now that you've found your audience here. :-) Thanks Dave, means a lot! And thanks for taking the time to listen to these! Yes, the forum here did a *huge* amount to bring me out of hiding and start making music again ...

Re: Mixcraft Suggestions!

Dithering. Contentious, I know, but I know you guys know more about this than me, and can figure it out. The Toneboosters Barricade limiter includes such an option when mixing down from 24 to 16 bit, with "noise shaping", and me - well, I can hear a difference with downconverting my 96/24 masters, b...

Re: Tip for acoustica and question..

Just to add a different perspective... and agree with Marc. I feel the pain too, a lack of built in acoustic loops. And I for one will *never* move away from drum loops. I've lost count of the number of songs I've done with "blues ballad" drums sliced and diced! My reasons are this - 20yrs ago with ...

Re: And She's Gone - Final Mix w/ Video

Definitely Mark!! I still think it's a great song, with a great hook, and that's just fab...in a sense, everything follows from there... You trying to get a bit more of a glossy top end? (you mention a vitaliser). I think it could do with a bit more treble/clarity in the Mastering, or clean up the t...

Re: Mixdown bad quality?

Ryan What have you recorded in this mixcraft project? Guitar? Are any of the recordings 96k/32bit-float? (check the "Sound" tab). Basically, try creating a WAV master like has been suggested here (but not 44k like you've tried) mixdown to a 96k/24bit file. Then create a new project, import just this...

Re: 64 bit issues

(3) stop moaning about it and faffing around and get on with writing music Considering the quality of your music (which is excellent) I tend to go with this option!! However if you want to do a bit more faffing another idea to throw in to the pot is to use a combination of 32bit Mixcraft AND 64bit ...

Re: 64 bit issues

You two!!!! But seriously, and huge thanks to the OP, this topic has helped me (quite a lot)!!! I've been spending too much time writing songs (awful ones obv.) rather than sorting out my PC, so with this prompting I reinstalled 32bit mixcraft alongside the 64bit I'd put onto my reasonably shiny-new...

Re: 64 bit issues

I think it is worth installing 32bit and doing some direct comparisons. You are aware that you can have both installed at the same time? Cheers John Good point! Thanks John, I was just being lazy, watching telly phone in hand, rather than actually trying it!...now if only I hadn't selected "install...

Re: 64 bit issues

By this, Mark Bowie means he would rather run MC32 at low latency than sacrifice the low latency for a 64 bit option. Mark Bliss concurs and got the same results in testing. 8) There's a lot of possible work arounds. A $1K computer doesnt seem like the most practical one for me right now. Other pri...

Re: My first Mixcraft song

Hi there, I'm new to the world of Mixcraft and have just finished my first song called Hallo (Hello). Since most of you seem to be professional musicians... Hi and welcome! Well, speaking as a *very* non-professional! I liked it! Am thinking Gary Numan? If this is your first song with Mixcraft (or ...

Re: Buying a New Interface

++ here for the Audient id14, I bought one last week, really very good! Love it. Outstanding build quality. Focusrite? I'm in the "No" camp sadly, I had one and it lasted a week before failing, and the build quality was inferior to this Audient. They seem popular though, I see them in every music sh...

Re: Calm

I like this... a LOT. Definitely something that George Michael would put some lyrics to. I know it's Chill/Ambient, but that's a real possibility with this, I think it's that good. Seriously. Would love to hear a better version than SoundCloud offers, why not put a simple video together, and get it ...

Re: That time when you realise you might actually have to spend real *money* on a Plugin?

One characteristic of that delay they used that I focused on, was how 'soft' the feedback was. Almost as if they had a way to shape the envelope for it. Maybe a delay on Send track, heavily EQ'd? Dynamic EQ? Multiband compression? Transient designer? Multiple delays? Delay combined with reverb? Cer...

Re: Song production - what are your go-to songs you admire?

there has always been work well outside of my tastes that make me go "wow" in appreciation of the production! Picking a good 5 for examples would be hard for me. Narrowing it down to "the" five for me would require some serious thought! Just 5? Never said it was easy!!! For me, the magic happ...

Re: Song production - what are your go-to songs you admire?

It's too difficult (for me) to try and sustain any credible knowledge of 'production' values...... I don't want to have to listen to them all again Well, *apart* from Accordions (!), what songs are there that you do still listen to over and over and over again that you admire how they sound? I gues...
