Re: Needing a new interface

Thomas, I had a chuckle when you said that parts lists and schematics were important in making a purchase. Those things went out when valve radios came to an end. They used to have a schematic stuck to the inside of the cabinet, but in would be fun doing that with any digital equipment, with all the...

Re: Needing a new interface

Serial prefix on a first gen is either S or T, second gen is either V or W, according to my information.

Re: Needing a new interface

The 1st gen Focusrite is bad for latency, had one myself. The 2nd gen is better, I am told. I ended up going for the Steinberg two input, came highly recommended on these forums. It does a great job.....when I get the chance to record that is. lol Think the model is 242.

Re: Bass plug-in

Not too sure if you mean a VST Plugin, or an actual bass pedal board? If you mean a good VST for bass, I use VB1. Tried several and many sounded like a cardboard box being kicked. VB1 has a nice Fender Precision bass sound and can be tweaked to whatever tone you want, and different types of bass as ...

Midi output channel number sending?

Hi all, just wondering if it is possible, when using the piano roll, if you can say, assign a key for example C2, to send out on a certain midi note number, so that an external midi receiving device will respond to it. What I am trying to do is change auto chord accompliment in my Yamaha keyboard, i...

Re: Recording stereo

Thanks Ian, yes, the effects are limited a little, but even with no effects used at all, I am getting no signal showing in the DAW master section, there is a level slider, pan etc, but they may as well not be there as they do not tell me anything.

Re: Recording stereo

Just noticed there is no signal showing on the DAW master section of the Steinberg software panel, probably why I am getting no stereo effects through to Mixcraft. Maybe someone has this same unit and can shed some light on it. I hope it works in Mixcraft, and not just set up for Cubase.

Re: Recording stereo

Further to this, I read that the steinberg will only send a mono signal to the DAW if it is a mono device being plugged in, as in a guitar. But, as the Steinberg has stereo effects built in, wouldn't it be assumed that it would also send this stereo signal to Mixcraft, as well as the headphone monit...

Re: Recording stereo

Damn, thought I had this sorted, but not quite. The problem I am getting is this. I am seeing both left and right audio on the output meters within the Steinberg UR242, but when the signal gets into Mixcraft, which I have the recording mode set to stereo by the way, I am only seeing the left channel...

Recording stereo

Hi all, trying to record stereo, as in using two separate lanes. When I arm one lane and have it set to say, left channel, then the next lane set to record the right channel, with both in record mode, I get signal into one lane, but not the other, even though both lanes are showing they are ready to...

Re: Steinberg UR242 and Mixcraft.

All good, think I have it sorted. I had the channel strip switched on, and even with the clean guitar amp sound, the preamp and master have to be set properly, or even the clean amp sound will distort. That is where my clipping was coming from. Not the best user software IMO, but a very nice, well b...

Re: Steinberg UR242 and Mixcraft.

Hi all, having an issue where the 242 appears to be very low on getting enough signal into Mixcraft. Using a standard Telecaster electric guitar, and the asio setting, Mixcraft is struggling to get enough drive signal. I have tried different FX settings in the 242, even the clean channel is distorti...

Re: Steinberg UR242 and Mixcraft.

Yep, got that now. Checked the price for the dongle here in Australia, and they are around $60. To just be able to use the rather limited basic suite, it's a bit rich to spend.Myself, like most others have effects laid on in Mixcraft, so I will be happy enough with that. It is a great interface, tha...

Re: Steinberg UR242 and Mixcraft.

Yes, the Basic suite. On reading your reply, I gather I could use it on both computers by loading the licence to a USB and taking it to the laptop. It would then be only possible to use the Suite while the stick is plugged in either computer? Which wouldn't be a problem as I can only use one at a ti...
