Re: Recording midi bass

Hey I learned something today! It's actually not too tough once you get the hang of it. In the MIDI editor in "piano" mode, there's a dropdown selector right below the piano keyboard on the left. It's the thing that says "(131) Pitch Wheel" in Greg's graphic above. The first thin...

Re: Getting audio to stay put in the clip while editing in Sound Tab?

Not that this probably helps much, especially as I'm quite a noob regarding DAW software, but I've found that aspect confusing too. It seems like MC treats "loop start" as the start of the clip, rather than what I'd expect which is the start of the portion that would be repeated if you &qu...

Re: Ghosts...

I've seen where on an audio track, a sound clip can be "underneath" another one and thus not visible. Are the "ghost" sounds just on one track? You can check by soloing tracks until you hear the sounds. If you can narrow it down to one track, you can move the visible sound clips ...

Re: waves electric88 VST3 crashes

I just submitted a ticket. I've found problems at two different times. I can open a new project, select the E88 for an instrument track, and play notes via musical typing or my MIDI controller forever seemingly with no problem. But as soon as I send a control-change signal (for example by moving the...

Re: waves electric88 VST3 crashes

Yeah, MC7 wouldn't see the electric88 at all... something about the Waves instruments being in a "wrapper" that made them appear to MC to be effects.

MC8 sees the VST3 but as described above, has significant issues.

Re: waves electric88 VST3 crashes

Not that this helps much but I'm having the same problem... well a similar one. If I open a blank project and select the Electric88 and use "musical typing", the instrument plays and appears to work fine. But if I add MIDI data to the track (by importing a file) and hit the "play"...

Re: How can I force a note to be part of the Treble staff?

What I was trying to say is that Mixcraft does't not cater adequately for people who are comfortable with writing standard notation and want to use that as a means to create MIDI tracks. It seems that some people think it's unreasonable to expect a DAW to have such capability. However Acoutica's Mi...

Re: How can I force a note to be part of the Treble staff?

I guess Mixcraft just isn't aimed at people who are musically literate With all due respect, that makes about as much sense as saying Mixcraft isn't aimed at people who eat food because it can't cook your dinner. At its core, Mixcraft emulates a digital audio recorder connected to a mixing board. A...

Re: Software glitches

That's *very* hot... which I guess isn't surprising if the fan has died.

I'd either replace the video card, or if it works okay, use the motherboard video and remove the card.

Re: Software glitches

Most machines these days auto-detect monitors. So with the machine off, unplug the monitor from the video card, plug it into the onboard connector. Fire the machine up and most likely it'll just work.

Samplers for dummies?

Hello all! I've been messing with synths for decades, but am nearly 100% clueless when it comes to samplers. I know what they do at the most basic level (load sounds into it and it plays them back) but the details are killing me. My question in short is: if I download sample packs, can I somehow eas...

Re: Mixdown sounds crappy

Are you using VST instrument plugins? I just had a weird experience that's different from what you describe but I wonder if it could have the same cause. I created a new project, and imported a MIDI file that had two tracks. I didn't select an instrument for the first track, but selected the 4front ...

Re: New excellent (free) effect: Roth-AIR

It sounds to me like it's mostly boosting and compressing the treble.

Not unlike recording a cassette (remember those? ) with Dolby NR turned on, and playing it back with Dolby off.

Re: Optimize your PC for Mixcraft!

Keep in mind also some VST instruments (and I'd assume effects also) can be *incredibly* resource-intensive. A while back I bought and installed Waves' Electric 88 piano. The installation was on my audio workstation which is a so-so machine, core 2 duo processor, 4 gigs of RAM, and an SSD. When I fi...

Re: Have Pro license but no Pro-effects or instruments

Wow... I just looked and I was missing those things too! I think what I did was download the Mixcraft demo, then when I purchased it, just entered the registration info. I must say the registration email is a little confusing, as it says "If you haven't downloaded Mixcraft Pro Studio yet...&quo...
